Totally form over function on this one. Milled receiver is heavier than stamped, wood is heavier than the plastic it came with, bakelite ain’t as tough as modern fiber filled nylon.
With all that said, I still like the way it looks.

I’m not going to go out of my way to add ‘weathering’ but it’s going to get used.

Fellow M4C member Templar has/had one like it way back when, SLR-95 with Polish T3 furniture. Liked it so much, still have pics of it stashed somewhere on my hardrive.

Only thing really wrong with it is a lack of a 45 degree gas block and incorrect furniture and magazine.
Nice Polish stock set however, wood buttstocks are incredibly rare.
The 45* gas block would give it the classic look (SASM-7) but I think if he had used poly (instead of wood) then it would be “correct” for the current configuration (thin barrel w/90* GB) that you see in Iraq etc.
NOS Bulgarian, yes. About all I’ve seen is the blonde sets. Used buttstocks though, not so rare.
Yeah, it would be more correct with the 45 gas block. I thought about it and really just don’t want to go thru the hassle of pulling the current gas block, welding up the current gas hole, and drilling a new gas port in the correct location for the 45 degree block.
As far as the wood goes, I could have got the Bulgy plastics but I wanted laminate wood and the Polish stuff had the advantage of being available and cheap.

It’s ok, Steyr is never happy until everything is perfect. He’s incredibly hard to please when it comes to AK’s and Sigs… 
I would never suggest you actually reconfigure the rifle for a 45 block.
I actually think it looks good and gives it a “retro” feel.
I actually did a classic Polish AKM myself.
The barrel assy is “correct” like it is. Like I mentioned above, when it comes to Bulgarians the slim barrel/90* (ala SLR) is somewhat current issue in the sandbox.
Also, the 45* (AK-47) won’t fit, your barrel is a lot smaller OD than the AK-47 barrel.

You are correct. And when I stated the only thing “wrong” with it was the gas block, I meant if you were trying to go for a T3 look (which in this case wouldn’t actually be possible).
The current “modern” milled Bulgarians are a strange bird to me. I really, really want one but I don’t. I really wish the SAM 7s were in the same price range but that is just a pipe dream.

Well then you’d have to gone get yourself a roll of duct tape, because the M1947 bayonet for the original milled rifles uses a different lockup than the lugs that were later used.
