Kicks For Guns Program

So our local radio station had it’s kicks for guns event today around central Florida. They got the usual junk pistols and old shotguns plus the ever dangerous airsoft and BB guns but they did get some sawed off shotguns and a couple that were stolen.

I was listening to the radio while sitting in traffic and they were making fun of some guy that had a sign saying he would pay more for the guns than the event and he got hassled by the cops and had his sign taken away and told to move on. Now I am no expert law attorney but since when is a sign saying you will buy the guns illegal ?

It must have been a slow day as the picture file has several pictures repeated a few times.

Here is a link to the radio web site with pictures. Gotta love those Lorcins and Hi-Points

Now don’t go doubting the efficacy of the Hi-point, especially after this highly instructional and well informed piece:

It won’t go far for reducing crime as those that want them will keep them. Then they’ll just hold up the ones who traded their pistols/long arms for shoes.

I wanted to see the shoes. Might have been worth picking up a POS at a pawn shop.

Makes me sick to see an A5 turned in for a pair of shoes.

How utterly asinine, notice the “crime prevention” banners about in those pics? They are making it out like guns cause crime and somehow if they could just get those guns off the street they wouldn’t cause any more crime. Well here is a thought. Instead of turning guns in for some basketball shoes how about turn in someone you know that has warrants and receive a carton of Newport Menthols?

Nah, it would never work. Too much street cred would be lost and then there is the whole “snitches get stiches” thing.

If you look through the pictures there is one with a bunch of shotguns on a table and 4 or 5 of them have the entire barrel rusted orange in the pic !! They look like they have been out back in pappy’s john boat for the last 4 years.

Last year someone did turn in a AR15 with tons of mall ninja stuff all over it but I don’t remember what brand. This year they got a potato gun and a musket. They said they could not clear the musket so it would have to be cut up to be made safe for transport to the disposal site :frowning:
