Hrrmm, I have two Romanian front end just laying around…i should do that.

I find the triangle stock is comfortable, the Russians used to wrap them with their rubber tournoquets.
JOHNO, how deep was the “G” engraving on your Romanian kit? Did you bother trying to get rid of it?
I took it down a little, there is still a “Ghost G”. Its faint, it does’nt bother me too bad.
Light sanding?
Just come over this evening and look at mine. I’m sure you’ll see it’s not a big deal.
BTW I just ordered another G kit ![]()
The Templar AK Ebola virus strikes again.

You were correct.
The G engraving is no big deal. While I would prefer it to be gone it’s way to insignificant to waste any time & effort to remove. Once the gun is refinished it is a non-issue.
Man, you oughta know by now that there’s room in the safe for both the M4 and the AK…

Anyone have a good source for Russian Wood.
I bent my flat last weekend, drilled my trunnion last night for the stock catch (have to do this before the build!), and I am fitting the front trunnion this weekend.

I found a nice AKM & AK-74 set last week.
Dinger,
Keep your eye out for a set for me please.
I sanded with a dremmel sanding wheel until G was gone and surrounding area was blended. Then sand blasted prior to parking. No sign of it
Also keep an eye out for Egyptian Maadi wood. The handguards are almost identical at a fraction of the price. I just picked up a set that was painted green for $20. They have refinished beautifully.
I never had any luck finding Maadi wood.
The best I could find was a complete fixed stock set (Like New), but the guy wanted over $250 for it.
Rusmilitary has russian wood, but it is around $90 for the set (not sure about shipping!). Would AK or AKM wood be better?
Progress report: fitted front trunnion into receiver last night and located three of the four rivet holes.![]()
Khyber Pass Rifles are wunderbar!
I built mine on a Polish kit with nice, dark wood. There’s a guy on the akforum marketplace who is located in poland and seems to always have ample stocks of the unissued stuff, which is a lighter color that most people seem to prefer. I think his name’s Lakuart, or something like that.

AUrang- Very nice!
WOW!!!
aurang, that is very nice!
Aurang-
I know it’s a little off topic, but could you please post some more pics/info on that VZ58? Is that one of the OOW guns? It’s beautiful! Thanks.
