Keymod stock PWS vs Odin works

Just bought a PWS mk114. Love the rifle. I’m going to put a keymod stock on another AR I have. Opinions on PWS vs Odin works would be appreciated. Cost is a wash.

I love my PWS DI upper, but with yours being a piston, I’m not sure changing it would be a wise choice. Odin is okay, but I like the original Samson rail better, and they have a piston cut that might work for your PWS

From your post it doesn’t sound like you’re removing the handguard from your PWS rifle so much as configuring another rifle with another handguard. Between the two the PWS handguard feels sturdier from my experiences. The shop I work at is a dealer for the Odin Works handguards and while I’d rate them just as high quality as other renowned companies like Troy, Samson, MI, their size turns me off of them. The PWS handguard also goes nicely with the Noveske handstop kit.

Both handguards use a two-piece trunnion/barrel nut design and require vibratite or loctite to install. They’re not horribly difficult to install but they take time to get perfectly straight with the top of the upper receiver.

I’m sorry I read the post wrong, I’d stick with PWS unless your open for other options, in which case I’d say Midwest Industries SSK or BCM KMR are my personal favorite.

Leonidas. This is the kind of feedback I’m looking for. I love the feel of the pws, but it’s the only one I’ve tried. Thanks

I have the PWS MK114 and its a great rail and rifle!! Then I got a BCM KMR and its freakin incredible. It doesnt have the squared edges the PWS has. Plus its keymod on 7 sides. Mounting options are endless!! Both are great but I give the nod to the BCM KMR!! The KMR is a fairly easy install so no worries on that end.

Keymod stock? You mean handguard?

Yes hand guard.

Is the Kmr noticeably bigger around?

It isn’t; it’s actually smaller. Note that the KMR is 1.5" in width, while the PWS rail is 1.8" in width.

I own a MK110 MOD 1, and have a custom 14.5" upper with a Noveske NSR. The NSR is definitely more comfortable, as was the KMRs I handled. While the profile of the rail is not a dealbreaker for me for future PWS purchases (it’s really not very noticeable with gloves on, IMO), for a separate upper, I would not consider their rail when options like the Geisseles, Noveskes, BCMs, and KACs are available.

Does the kmr go on sale periodically. I found the 12" pws for $189. Kmr is closer to $250

Probably not. Most of the time they go out of stock.
