Keymod Accessories

I recently purchased a Noveske upper with a 15" NSR keymod rail. I’ve been searching the web/forums and have found a few places that offer a decent selection of accessories and it seems like more places are jumping on board for manufacturing them. It seems like the keymod system is somewhat popular…

I recently went to a gun show (Portland, OR) and saw plenty of nice examples of keymod rails. However, when I asked about accessories I was laughed at. There was not one table that had a single keymod accessory. What gives? I was told that it’s already on its way out due to a military contract for M-Lock, but I find it somewhat hard to believe. I was really hoping to get my hands on some stuff to get a feel… Maybe next time???

Lol at the uninformed troll who said it’s on its way out.

There’s a place for all types. Even the heavier quad rail still has an important place.

Several online resources for keymod accessories. I tend not to trust or rely on gun shows for anything much at all

I doubt you are going to find a gun show vender or store for that matter with a big inventory of keymod accessories in stock. If you buy from reputable online sellers and aren’t satisfied most will take it back without questions. I can’t imagine there is anything you are interested in that one of us couldn’t put up a picture and opinion of if you ask.

So what accessories are you looking for exactly since there was no mention. There are quite a few different options and accessories out there.

  1. Don’t listen to any vendor at a gunshow (unless shot)… 98% of them are idiots. There is no large contract for Mlok or Keymod, that is not how it works.
  2. KAC has some fantastic accessories, Scout light and Skeletonized Keymod Barrier Stop are must haves. I also love naroh arms hand stop, they also have a sweet go pro mount if you want to do some video.

I was more just interested in seeing some of the stuff first hand, or maybe even seeing it mounted to a rail and holding it. The only accessory I was really interested in was the BCM KAG or something similar. Other than that, it would just be for show since I haven’t had an opportunity to take a class or compete with my gun yet. I could also see the barricade stop being useful.

I’m very aware of the companies that are making offers online and what prices are, but again I was really hoping to do more than Internet screen shop some of this stuff before trying it.

I’ll play. OdinWorks handstop/AFG on a DD SLiM rail:

BCM keymod 1913 rail with Inforce WML mounted on BCM KMR 15" rail. BCM keymod direct attach foregrip

Here’s one of our inline scout mounts, perfect for the KMR.

Is that polymer or aluminum? It looks nice and compact!

I’ve thought about the VFG, but for some reason I keep thinking I want the KAG. What are the advantages of one over the other?

I’ve been on your website a time or two, but I think I need to go back.

I guess I’m still confused at why nobody would have any accessories on display for anything other than 1913 rails…

Anyway, I’ll start looking for reviews on the site. I currently have the Noveske rail covers on (and I like them) but after reading a recent thread, it sounds like the Midwest industries cover are the bees’ knees.

Assuming I stay with my Noveske covers, what are your opinions on keymod vertical and angled grips? Is placement on the rail purely preference and comfort or is there a reason some mount it way forward and some mount farther back?

It’s aluminum. Very comfortable, only as big as it needs to be, and very well made. Highly recommend it if you like an AFG.

Here is the KAG i just got in. It is smaller that I knew and the way I have to twist my wrist, it hurts. I put the VFG back on and I am happy.
Thumb lays over the top of rail or on the WML switch if need be.

I can make sense of what you’re saying… Maybe I’ll reconsider for the VFG. I really like the magpul angled grip look better, but to install a 1913 rail section just to put on the grip totally defeats the purpose of the keymod system in my opinion.

I also noticed twisting when I have the KAG mounted as well. I prefer the ZeroBravo RHS (for less bulk) and BCM VG Mod 3.

I wouldn’t make my selection based on how something looks. It either works for you or it doesn’t. I prefer the smallish KAC hand stop but I don’t have wrist issues. Putting a 1913 rail section on a keymod tube allows keymod to be backwards compatible. It was never designed to make 1913 obsolete. You get to put the rail sections where you want them.

I am a huge Magpul AFG fan and was seeking a keymod replacement that would allow my hand to assume a similar attitude and grip. The Odin Works does exactly that, but takes up much less real estate on the rail. If you like the MAFG, you’ll be delighted with the OW.

Fwiw it’s worth Midwest industries makes a keymod to mlok adapter section and you could then use magpuls new lower profile mlok AFG thing.

Granted I just wish magpul would make a lower profile keymod AFG but I digress.
