Keyholes with Wolf Ammo

just checking others’ experiences - I’ve had Wolf Black Box 55gr and recently Wolf WPA 62gr HP rounds keyholing at 25 yards from BCM 1:7 twist barrels. this was from two different BCM midlengths BTW, so I don’t believe it was the gun…

anyone else see this?

FWIW, it shot fine from a 1:9 twist “Obama Election Eve Special”…

I’ve been using the Wolf WPA 62gr HP (the polymer coated ones right?) lately and haven’t noticed any keyholing out of my 11.5" 1/7 BCM with a standard barrel.

My brother and I usually shoot together and he has virtually the same setup as me and I haven’t noticed any from his gun either.

*I must add that besides for sighting in we rarely shoot paper so a few may have come out without me noticing… I will keep an eye out and shoot some paper next time we head out and report back here with what I find.

Never seen it happen with numerous cases of Wolf fired.

How many rounds through that BCM barrel? Have you checked for carbon build up at the crown and/or inside the flash hider? This can cause keyholing.

I’ll check this but both guns had less than 1000 rds total and the LW midlength had less 300 after cleaning. thanks for the tip…

My BCM 14.5" 1:7 started keyholing Silver bear 62gr and later a few other 62gr (quality brass cased) ammo after approx 1k rounds. BCM rebarreled it for me. It’s been good to go since with all types of ammo.
