Ken J. Good Low Light Techniques/ Video clips/ Opinions?

I came across these Low Light Techniques by Ken J. Good who I believe is a LEO in S. Cal. and a representative/ trainer for the SureFire Institute.

Because I haven’t had any formal light training, I would like to know what your thoughts are on these video teaching techniques. My experience has been limited to the Harries, and Rogers pistol techniques.

My thoughts…Overall, after practicing them, I think they seem to be pretty sound, but a few techniques that I am concerned about is when the operator uses the light in a criss cross fashion from one side of the body to the next. I would think that the BG could figure out where the center portion (the body) is, and shoot at the center of that light pattern.

I also have always wondered about how to keep yourself from becoming the target with your carbine light that is always pretty much in the middle of your body, and a potential target. At least with a pistol, you can somewhat keep the light to the outside of your body perimeter.

Enough of my thoughts, because they are limited in experience…what are yours?

Ken is one of the most highly respected low light teachers out there. Get his book. It is well worth the money. Ken was doing low light when others were doing no light. He is a former SEAL.

Ken, Mark Warren and Vaughn Baker have been teaching under “Strategos International” for several years and they are associated with Blackhawk Night Ops as well.

They are top notch and they are not stagnant… get to a course and get the latest information that they have to put out… they have progressed a lot since the days of the Surefire Institute.

Todd…I have studied with Ken when he was with Surefire, and since he started Strategos. I echo the sentiments of others here…Ken is an innovator, an intelligent, thinking strategist, and very humble guy who knows of what he speaks.

I highly recommend his book, and his classes.,including the DT stuff; Russian Systema.

With any light technique, after the light is flashed you should be moving.
