I just got a call from the local store chain here in CA (to remain unnamed) where I had a deposit in on a KSG for 18+ months. They said that Keltec decided to “discontinue” the KSG as a way to raise the price due to the high demand.
Basically KSG is relaunching the KSG at a new price ($1,300) so they won’t have to honor the old price at which all of us put our deposits in based on. The local store is mad and handled this well. I don’t blame them at all.
I will never do business with a company that has such poor ethics ever again.
A chain store along those lines. It was a novelty gun. That is why I wouldn’t pay anywhere close to $1,300 for it. It is one thing to raise rates. However, if you allowed a distributor to lock in prices and take deposits, you better honor those rates… especially after making people wait over 18 months. They let the store know at SHOT that they were going to use a loophole to raise the rates.
They also make crappy guns. I don’t know why you would buy anything form them to begin with. I’ve never seen a company produce so many guns that I’ve seen personally break. Be happy you never got the chance to waste your cash on that crap.
They sold a shitload of them to Friends of NRA for use at fund raising banquets and also tons of the PMR-30. I think the cost has been in the 800 range for the KSG with most bringing about 2400.00 on the auctions- I just assumed they funneled all of their production to the FNRA program for a short time but to cancel orders and re-introduce them at a newe price sucks. Kel-Tec is crude junk anyway.
Kel-Tec is worried that if an AWB passes and outlaws the KSG they won’t have recouped their development costs. Still, shitty business practices from a company that make shitty products.
