I bought one and could not find any defects or cosmetic anomalies. I love mine. ![]()

I went with troy for my 16" bcm midlength because, while multiple carbine options, Troy had the only mid length cut out rail
I’ve been happy, and have the DD 9.5 partial cut out on my 11.5 bcm
I’m guessing the hand guard cap still needs to be cut off on this rail?
Thanks everyone
After further research I went with a Troy Charlie fsp cut-out drop-in rail. I got it for a good price (lower than Troy’s direct price even with the 20% coupon), so I can always sell it later if it doesn’t fit my needs and not lose anything/much. Thanks for all of the info guys…been busy the last few years and out of the loop so I didn’t even know the Charlie/Alpha rails existed (being a 2 piece ff rail w/o mods required. Thanks again
I searched midwests sight and didn’t find the one in the picture. Could you post a link(s) to it by chance?
Thanks
You don’t have to cut off the Handguard Cap, there is a clearance cut out in the rail. Absolutely ZERO!! Mods necessary for a Troy Charlie rail. Put on 5 or 6 of em for a few buddies
I wrote that article. You do have to cut the D ring, but in return you get a very well machined free floating rail.
Indeed, mine went on very easily with zero mods and I am very happy with the rail thus far, especially for the sub $200 price. I never try to ‘justify’ anything simply because I bought it and am quick to call something I bought junk if so be the case, but so far so good for the Charlie rail, a lot of real estate in front of the FSP and it mounts up solid with the provided 4 bolts and threaded tabs. If I notice anything negative come about with the rail I will be sure to update this thread.
The rail is the Midwest industries Gen 2 Two Piece free float rail. Here is the URL:

Im a big fan of Midwest industries rails. If, on a particular build, im not looking to spring for the cost of a BCM or Daniel Defense or Centurion rail (my go to rails), im going to probably use a MI rail. Best mid level rails on the market, imo.
Another KAC vote here. KAC is excellent quality, solid, and .mil approved.
Plus, I’d rather use an inferior product than buy from Troy. Fortunately, that’s not a problem here.
Great, thank you. This is definitely on my short list
