Hey guys, I was wandering if the KAC ambi lower receivers are as good of quality as LMT lowers. Also which would match the color of a LWRC M6A2 upper better? Thanks
Yeah they are just as good of quality with a few extra nice features like the sling mount sockets, and ambidextrous bolt release that the LMT does not have. It will also run quite a lot more money so you just have to decide if those couple little things are worth it to you.
Anodized black parts can vary in shades from the same manufacturer even…so there really is no way to tell if an upper and lower are going to match perfectly. In my experience though, both generally have a very nice dark black finish.
Don’t forget that the KAC comes with the SOPMOD & thier 2-stage trigger which retails for over $300 and is head and shoulders above the LMT trigger. You can get the KAC for $750, which is a good price when you consider the entire package. If you calculate the cost to add ambi controls, etc. to a standard lower, you will come out ahead with the KAC. If those features don’t appeal to you or if you want to use a different trigger, then go with the LMT + SOPMOD.
ETA: since you asked, both of my KAC’s have had a very nice dark black finish.
Is the KAC trigger as good as the Geissele trigger?

I own both and like them about equally. However I prefer the Geisselle SSA being that it’s half the price.

If I had to choose Id go with the SSA. I think the actual manipulation is better on the KAC but I like that the SSA is not adjustable so there are no screws to work loose. That’d main the entire gun in op. KAC is more of a match trigger, and the SSA is more of a good combat trigger. However I still use the KAC in my SR15, and can replace it with an SSA if it ever breaks. Before I bought an SSA I was always a 1 stage USGI trigger guy thinking 2-stages were too reliable on a combat gun. I bought the SSA, and never heard of one breaking. Ive now shot quite a bit with them, and no problems. Makes for far easier shooting than struggling against the heavy and inconsistent USGI triggers.
I think the KAC lower is better but thats just my opinion. LMT lowers are a dime a dozen. KAC is much more rare. Has ambi bolt and mag release as well as the QD sockets. I use a Magpul ASAP plate with mine though. Ive had 2 LMT lowers now where the screw hole for the pistol grip is machined off center, and as far as I know they are cutting the take down pin holes post anodizing now so they are bare AL. Anodizing is a surface hardening treatment so IMO its good to have those holes with it as opposed to the softer untreated metal. Maybe they went back to anodizing them but I havent looked at any new lowers recently. They both use good quality internal parts…
