Did some digging but couldn’t find a specific answer. I’m wanting to know if the SLR Sentry 7 set screw agb will fit under the KAC URX 3.0. Thanks!
Want to post the specs of the gb? I’ll measure tomorrow. Are you looking at hight only or all dimensions?
Here’s the specs from SLR website. I’m looking at the whole thing; clearance all the way around.
There are some dimensions that have not been provided. I would only assume that if tolerances between the rail and the barrel associated components bring up issues, that a compromise relief could be done. The question is to why is that gas block chosen over the factory style ones that do not have issues? A good base isn’t really good with a patch work over a base barrel that is ported oversized. You may have a desirable trait that could require that necessity though.
Tagged for intrest. I have been toying with this gb too. I want to adjust for suppressor use, and remove the semi auto option at will.
Mine is a 9inch aac 300blk upper.

It’s for a .300 BLK PDW project that will be running sub and supersonic ammo, suppressed and unsuppressed.
It is very possible to find yourself in a position that uses a fixed port with a less complicated gas block that only requires a simple buffer swap for operation between the four ways optimally. You can overlap function with many configurations, a lot depends on the selected ammunition and silencer attributes selected, among other items. It is feasible for most requirements to approach this aspect this way with an easier indexable use, than an index that is more difficult to repeat via gas flow to drive the action through most gas block adjustment methods.
What do you think about running an agb wide open to mimic a standard low-pro gb; letting the gas port be the restriction as intended? I could always do that and if it works the way I want it to I’ll know I’d be good with a fixed gas block and I could find another use for the adjustable.
A proper gas porting with a "mostly unused’ gas block only adds variables to go wrong. That’s not a comfortable place to be in, for many reasons.
Sure, specific porting is for the application is best, but what uses that are “specific” are intended?
The Daniel Defense Mk12 gas block wouldn’t fit under my URX 3.1 so I had to shave the bottom of it quite a bit. It’s a really beefy gas block, though.
What’s the barrel length and gas port size now?
What buffer system and suppressor is planned?
Yeah it looks like that Mk12 block is about 80 thou more from center to bottom than the SLR. The SLR is about 40 thou taller, from the center, than the Mk12 though.
I’m going to give the Faxon 10.5" Gunner barrel a try. Gas port is 0.078" (Thanks Nathan)
Thinking about a .30 cal Surefire RC2 or the Surefire 300 SPS, still looking into options and open to suggestions.
I like the BAD Vert stock system but, at least until funds permit I have a spare lower with the A5 system I was going to use.
P.S. We can take this discussion to PMs if we get too far in depth, doesn’t matter to me either way. I like having more information out there even if it’s off topic from what I started the thread for. I’m interested in your thoughts for my setup.
I got my hands on both the URX 3 and the SLR Sentry 7 and I can confirm they will work together should this question ever come up again.
