KAC T1 mount assembly

I sold my 4moa t1 w/ LT660 and bought myself a new 2moa t1 and KAC T1 mount. While I was reading the instructions for the assembly of KAC t1 mount I saw it needs those screws to be torqued to 5in-lbs. and then to 8-10in lbs. I don’t have a torque screwdriver, none of my buddies has one that will set even close to 10in-lbs.

I called all the near by autoparts stores like Napa to see if they had one to rent, no luck. I’m not really trying to shell out $100+ on a tool I’m only going to use once.

So I’m thinking if rigging something up. If I used a fish weight scale and placed the hook on the allen wrench supplied with the KAC mount 2in off the diameter of the screw and applied 2.5lbs of force that would translate to 5inlbs of torque.

Has anybody used this approach to torque something?
Did everyone who assembled their KAC t1 mount have a torque screwdriver?
Should I just buy the darn torque screwdriver?

Thank-you!

Use the right tool for the job. Try calling up an auto repair center and see if they will let you use one for 5 minutes.

Definitely see if you can find a torque wrench… those little screws snap REALLY easy.

Buy a Larue and sell the KAC mount. It would be less of a hassle.

I agree- LaRue, DD, ADM, etc. much better.

You can spend $600+ on a red dot and want to use a fish scale to install it???

$50 and you’ll use it on other gun related items, scope rings, bases, etc.

I’d buy a one piece ADM mount. They make them in 4 heights.

They have the most surface engagement area on the upper and have no stupid spacers to dick with and come loose.

This is the only mount I use for micro aimpoints. They have no competition.

I agree. My ADM mount has been 100% solid.

Well, I had a feeling I should have went with a mount with less parts to it! I own an AD recon for a NF nxs 2.5-10x and its been really solid.

Which AD t1 mount for a lower 1/3 co-witness? The socom?
Any special tools to assemble the AD t1 mount?

Anyone want a KAC T1 mount? $100 shipped. :laugh::blink:

Thank-you

P.S.
Just got my upper in from MSTN: Noveske CHF 16" N4, kac URX III, MUR. Really lightweight. Beautiful work; had the URX timed perfectly to the MUR, totally worth it!

I’ll trade you my lower 1/3 adm mount for your kac one, have always wanted the kac.

The only tools required for the adm mount is a screwdriver for the screws that came with the t1.

Koshinn, pm sent. thank-you.
