I am receiving my SR-15 E3 IWS upper on Monday the 3rd. My range only offers a 100 meter and a separate 50 meter range. I will be running a T-1 on it as well. What I normally do is sight in the irons and then adjust the dot accordingly with the irons.
Most people I know sight in at 50 to 100 meters. Probably because that is all my local range offers. SO how can I sight in my irons at 100 meters for 200 meters?
Is there a simple method I can use without buying any special targets?
I know there is a way to sight in for 100 meters at 25 meters as I remember something along those lines from my days in the .mil. I just cannot remember enough to figure it out.
No…if you sight in at 50 yards, you should set your point of impact to exactly where you are aiming. Then at 100 yards, you will likely notice your poi is 1.5 inches high or so, and back on again at 200 (with possible minor tweaking required).
I recommend you do some research with ballistics calculators…I like the Hornady one, but can’t link at the minute as I’m typing on my phone.
