[i]The bolt carrier appears to have split, you will notice it protruding into the magazine well. On the left side the upper was cracked and bulged, the bolt hold open sheared off. On the right, the upper bulged and the ejection port cover bent. The magazine was blown out of the rifle. Notice the how the bottom of the mag bulged from the pressure.
Thank fully no one was hurt. I think that is a testament to the design of the rifle and the quality of RRA.
According to the owner, RRA told him it was cased by the ammunition (Ultramax) and this is the second gun they had destroyed by it. The RRA mishap report, “Lower OK, bolt still in battery, lockup. Fired casing came apart at base, no bulges in barrel.” RRA replaced the upper at cost ($323.50) after he signed a release absolving them of any liability. They suggested contacting the ammunition manufacturer.[/i]

I don’t know about you, but if I see “tinyurl,” I immediately think “What kind of ambush this cat trying to hide…?” Between Rickrolls, Asian midget amputee porn, virus/malware, and folks using tinyurl to trick folks into clicking on any/all of those…if you feel you can’t or shouldn’t put up the genuine online location of the item, you don’t need to post it.

I’d thought that including rickrolling and a porn reference in the explaination behind the edit to be a sufficient substitute for

Suffice to say that there’s non-tinfoil-hat reasons for folks to look at an open tinyurl link like that with some understandable skepticism. I was speaking to that, not the content, though it’s considered good practice to include the content, as well, not just a link (regardless of how it’s linked), as seen in other KABOOM report threads.

Funny, you read the linked article you see great significance attached to the fact that the rifle didn’t sustain “much” damage because “RR got some high quality construction to their rifles”. The lower doesn’t seem to be ruined. Everything else is ruined except the handguards and sights, maybe the charging handle is OK. I doubt very much whether the gun was a RR, an Oly, a Colt or a Noveske would make any difference as to how blowed up it was.
If it would have been a Noveske with an Aimpoint on it that dude would have been carted away in an ambulance with a stump in place of his hand but due to the awesome craftsmanship and attention to detail of the crew at RRA and the fine Chinese folks at the Lucid scope company that dude walked away unscathed.
Funny post of the day! Nutnfancy himself must’ve swooped right in and protected the user. It almost makes me wish i wouldve spent the extra $100 for the Operator Elite vs my Colt 6920 so i would be protected from a kaboom by rra’s waaaaayyy better than milspec rifles.
But in all seriousness, it is amazing how forgiving the M16/Ar15 platform is when a kaboom does unfortunately happen.

Looks like an ammo problem to me, not an RRA problem.
The little time I have between work along with other stuff. I shot my RockRiver a few times at the range and never had a problem with it
( Yet ) really I like the little rifle but always clean and oiled the right way before I went out. but time will tell. that could be mix of both bad ammo or weak spot in the side. glade I got a BCM 16 when I had the chance. could not be happier. BCM would be my go to…
The point of this thread, like every other one, is to poke the the eye of any company that isn’t Colt, BCM, Larue…etc. That is was ammo rates is a moot point, it’s all a out what weapon it happened in. Had it been one of the “favored” rifles, the point would be that the shooter survived thanks to the awesomeness of the materials and manufacturer.
na not really the truth does not hurt it is what it is just is.if it had been aether of the 3 well I would have said the same thing must been something wrong with the rifle but coming from Co’s that make a stiff rifle I would say no. I don’t think I would sell mine shoots great I go after facts… and for paying 14 for a rifle that has been test than you have something and not only are they for the normal shooter theirs plenty other Co’s out there are worse. does not mean they are A bad Co or they make bad rifles just some don’t do class like others not downing any maker my friend.
