Dr Anthony Fauci’s top former aide has been indicted for conspiracy against the US after he allegedly concealed and falsified information to suppress alternative theories of COVID-19’s origins.
Morens notoriously testified before Congress in 2024 that he learned how to make controversial internal agency correspondence ‘disappear.’
The advisor’s subpoenaed emails show that Morens said he ‘learned from our foia lady here how to make emails disappear,’ meaning he had a way to help them avoid scrutiny under the Freedom of Information Act.
He also used his personal email to illegally correspond with top officials and Dr Peter Daszak, the boss of Ecohealth Alliance, a group that funded gain-of-function research at the Chinese Wuhan lab where COVID-19 is believed to have escaped from.
‘These allegations represent a profound abuse of trust at a time when the American people needed it most — during the height of a global pandemic,’ Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
‘As alleged in the indictment, Dr. Morens and his co-conspirators deliberately concealed information and falsified records in an effort to suppress alternative theories regarding the origins of COVID-19,’ Blanche said.
‘Government officials have a solemn duty to provide honest, well-grounded facts and advice in service of the public interest — not to advance their own personal or ideological agendas.’
Morens is charged with conspiracy against the US; destruction, alteration or falsification of records in federal investigations; concealment, removal, or mutilation of records; and aiding and abetting.
The maximum penalties for the charges could land Morens behind bars for up to 28 years.
Well since FJB pardoned the little bastard, we need to find a red state that can bring state-level charges against him. I have zero qualms with locking his old ass up until he’s dead. No problem whatsoever. Payback is a bitch.
Indictment is a far cry from “found guilty”. Just saying.
If I was a betting man my money would be on these charges going nowhere. Not saying he doesn’t deserve to be indicted and tried. But I wouldn’t hold out any hope of conviction, let alone prison. He will be protected, and these charges will disappear like a fart in the wind.
Getting the indictment is just the first in a long series of steps. A big one, yes… but once the indictment drops that creates leverage and further warrants, subpoenas etc to expand the investigation.
Flynn them - bring the lawfare hard and heavy, make them spend everything they have.
It would be nice if Florida or Texas would file state-level charges against Little Lord Fauci. Not gonna get a conviction trying it in NY or D.C. Do it somewhere solidly RED. The pardon is only for Fed charges. Go after him in a friendly state and crucify the little cocksucker. Then, if he’s still alive, the next Demoshit POTUS can’t pardon him!
Isn’t everyone in the White House also using disappearing messaging apps? There was that whole thing about Hegseth et al using Signal last year in the Atlantic.
‘Not only did Morens allegedly engage in the illegal obfuscation of his communications, but he received kickbacks for doing so. If you have engaged in activity conspiring against the United States, we will not stop until you face justice.’FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement.
BIG difference in the circumstances, but you knew that. Hegseth’s bordered on negligence, this asshole’s was flat-out deceit in perhaps the biggest [but deadly] event in modern American history.
Bet you disagree with trying to nail The Fauch on state-level charges, don’t you?
I believe very very little published in the Atlantic that is posing as investigative journalism. I don’t see them as a reliable or remotely un-biased or truthful source of news.
None of them are unbiased, we no longer have any trustworthy media coverage of politics and government.
They all have an agenda, and that agenda has no emphasis on truth, facts, or informing the public.
The Atlantic is a cesspit outside of opinion pieces, and most of those are also of dubious value. I would put them at about the same value as Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, or Mother Jones. Just leftist drivel dressed up with a bunch of words from a thesaurus to convince the reader that the pompous author in question is really intellectual and so too is the consumer of said drivel. A nice little loop of confirmation bias, sucking each other off, and self satisfied fart sniffing.
The no longer published and not particularly missed “The Weekly Standard” would be a good example of a right wing cesspit of the above mental masturbation and faux intellectual try-harding.
