It would appear that role players have merged cosplay and the shooting sports. In case you haven’t noticed things like DPMS’s annual Outbreak Omega Shoot (zombie three gun shoot) to Guns & Ammo’s latest publication Zombie Nation.
You cannot go into a sporting goods/hunting store with out seeing zombie ammo cans from MTM Case Guard and Plano Molding or zomibe knives from Ka-Bar and Gerber. Along with their zombie 1911s and P238s Sig Sauer actually hosts their Zombie Apocalypse Survival School (Z.A.S.S.) at the Sig Sauer Academy. Stag Arms is getting into the act as well with their Executive Survivor’s Kit. By now all of you should be aware of Hornady’szomibe ammunition.
I chaulk all this up to marketing, after years and millions of dollars if Hollywood and TV can make a buck off this fad/genre why can’t the gun industry?
While I think it’s all pretty ghay, at least it is opening some up to shooting and gun ownership who would have never otherwise had an interest.
I’m sure I’ll be crucified for this, but I attended Hornady’s huge zombie 3 gun this summer.
Why? Because they had over $170k on the prize table to divide up amongst about 300 people. I also had a couple buddies that wanted to go so I thought we might have fun & maybe take home some cool shit. We did both.
I think the craze is silly too, but what the hell, if you can go & have fun & enjoy yourself who cares. I don’t take myself so seriously that I can’t shoot a couple zombies with my buddies. Although, I don’t buy all the silly gear. I do agree that that’s pretty ghey.
Funny, I had my American History Professor put it like that, but in a more academic way. After watching Greece and other riots, what he said was very true.
What ever makes people more interested and have more fun is a good thing.
I have one nephew that we couldn’t really get fired up about shooting (ridiculously recoil sensitive:rolleyes:) and he is now into shooting… as soon as he was old enough to kill zombies in video games (and loved it) we went out and got small zombie targets and this increased the fun for him and then we got life size zombie targets and now all he wants to do is go out and “shoot” zombies with his custom N4:D I now love Zombies. If I could breed them and let them loose on the ranch I would:p
Im burnt out on zombies. I recently bought some XM855, which is harder to get a hold of here. A friend I know shows up. We start talking guns. So before I show him my AR15, & I remove my loaded magazine, hand him the mag, clear the rifle & say…
“Hey man, you know what kind of ammo this is?” And then he EXCLAIMS

I really don’t mind them, but it’s gone from semi-cool gun sub-genre to every retard jumping on the bandwagon and pumping out nonsense.
I really can’t blame them, but frankly I see it as just an excuse for companies to overprice cheap crap.
And it’s good that it may get people involved in shooting and maybe even a little prepping.
But on the other hand, I see the type of people generally slavering over the zombie crap and I wonder if they’re going to be liability shooters, instead of asset shooters.
Well, whatever. Maybe it’ll turn out well. If not, to paraphrase a certain sigline; “all of you will undoubtedly be zombies someday- I’d rather you were zombies with sub-par gear”.
This same guy that thought XM855 was zombie ammo, duel wields pistols in a fashion that made me nervous. He does not know how to take apart his Bushmaster bolt carrier group, and talks about the zombie apocalypse as if its actually coming.
