Just bought a NT4-QDSS, anything I need to know?

As title says. Anything specific to this can I need to know?

After how many rounds should the can be removed from the mount for cleaning?

They have a slightly larger bore but any ammo I should avoid?

Thanks

Mainly, just shoot the crap out of it and enjoy!

if the ammo doesn’t keyhole out of your gun, it’s gtg through the can. I ASSume your barrel is 1:7 twist? if so, you should be good with all commercial loads out there.

The ones I’ve used have liked being removed or at least twisted on the mounts every few hundred rounds to break up any carbon in there. Makes it easier to get off.

Thanks! Yeah its a DD CHF 10.3" Barrel on my Mk18Mod0 ish carbine.

I’m told that if you can get the gate up but can’t get the can off, you are instructed by the manual to point it downrange and fire a round… Does your manual say that?

Havent picked it up yet, waiting for it to clear.

I will have to check the manual, but I do think it mentions that. I don’t know why someone would have to do it. I’ve had my NT4 white hot, and still got it off of the mount after it cooled down. It took a little more effort, just like with any other suppressor.

Getting them that hot does cook the finish off though.

I’ve had to kick my SF off before, and I know guys who have shot off an SF K can. Both intentionally and unintentionally for that matter. QD really means fast attach…

I’ve decided on the NT-4 as well but haven’t committed yet. I’ve been hung up on whether I should get the taupe or not. Sure it doesn’t really matter but I would still like to know what to expect.

What kind of firing schedule is needed to burn the finish off?
I do not have any FA guns, but it will be run on 10.5 & 14.7" guns.

Nice can Kyle!

ANd to answer the question about the paint burning off…everything will burn. lol

I burnt the hell out of my M42000 and bought some 2000degreee flat black grill paint with ceramic and its actually held up better.lol

Buy whatever color you want, just start looking for heat paints now or leave it as is.

I’d vote to pick up whichever you can find and if you end up wanting it in another finish, just spraypaint it.

What to expect? It’s the bees knees of M4 suppressors. We mostly run Surefire cans but we still have a handful of the KAC’s and I love it. They shift a little over 1" vertical at 100 yds with an M4. Groups nicely, even with M855. Especially considering how many thousands of rounds have gone downrange with them and how we always seem to break shit, the NT4’s have held up well.

Congratulationss. I want to pick one up for my 416, but I keep spending my suppressor fund on more ammo!

I’m following this thread with interest. I’ve recently order some suppressors for 300 BLK, 762, .22, 45, and 9mm, but for some reason I left out the 556.

I have a couple 16" and I’ve got a registered lower and I’m still deciding what length 556 SBR to go with.

I’d like to run the same suppressor on all of them. However, I just picked up the Magpul/KAC Special Edition Rifle with the triple tap, so I’m seriously considering this KAC can.

I’ve heard good things about the SF cans (I’m getting the FA762K), but then I won’t be able ro run it on my 556 with the triple tap-which is the one I really want to get a suppressor for.

Let me know how you like it!

I just got back from getting 12 sets of fingerprint cards.

If you are interested in keeping the Triple Tap, then certainly stay with KAC suppressor.

KAC, SF, and AAC are really the only considerations for a military grade solution.

Or Ops Inc.

KAC is my favorite though.

Poor Ops. Always overlooked.

This is what I was thinking and I may end up getting a AAC can for my other 556 ARs.

I have a 762 SDN inbound (keep that welding going!) as well TiRant for my new HK USP Tactical. These will be my first suppressors.

I got the 762 SDN for my 10.5" 300 BLK and my 12.5" 6.8, but I may just see how it works on the 556.

Anyone know what size wrench is needed for the mount?

Standard AR combo wrench, use the side for a A2 flash hider. Same size for the KAC QD flash hider and triple tap.

My problem was it was hard to get a wrench in on the flats with it on a 10.3" barrel and a DD RISII rail. Very little room for the wrench.

3/4" is what youre looking for, dont forget the tape. I havent played with a MK18 upper with the RIS II, but you might have better luck with the wrench if you pull the screws on the handguard so that you can move it around a bit while you work.
