Just assembled a LaRue 7.0 handguard on a buddy’s Colt 6920 upper. Went together very well. The Brownell’s free float handguard assembly jig is money for these jobs. It is straight as an arrow. The hardest part of the job was getting the Colt barrel nut off. It was on so tight it felt as though they locktited it. Had to gently heat it up with a propane torch. Pictures to come.
Next up, a LaRue 11.0 on a Noveske middy upper. Have to shave down the front sight base first in order for it to fit under the rail. Or should I put a 9.0 on it and keep the front sight?
I was going to just cut, grind, and file the factory front sight/gas block (then refinish it in flat black moly coat) to allow it to fit under the LaRue 11.0. I like my gasblock to be pinned and don’t have the personal capability to pin one of the other gasblocks.
Thanks for the pic…makes me eager to get my upper put together.
I’m all for covering the gas block.
I never use iron sights so I always throw a low profile gas block on and cover it.
I really like a 10" rail on a 16" barrel.
