Pre note: Personally I have all but given up on this genre of movie as 99% of them just pull from the “big book of action” movies where the plot sucks, the action scenes terrible, gun handling terrible, guns never run out of bullets and bodies fly through the air when hit, and you can write the dialog yourself and the ending, etc.
Not ruining the plot, when Reeves character finally catches up with his main target, I fully expected the Big Book Of Action movies dialog where the target says X and shooter has cool long winded statement. Instead, Reeves just walks up and shoots him.
Surprise movie for me. Maybe my expectations were low, so I enjoyed it, but for lovers of action movies, surprisingly well done. Part film noir, Part Matrix (you’ll recognize the highly stialized action scenes), part Collateral, it’s a well done slick fun movie. The support cast is fantastic. So good they even make Reeves acting decent…Plot is simple: They killed his dog, it’s on! Best of the genre in a long time. Action scenes and visuals are fantastic. And he even reloads in regular intervals!
That we was using a HK P30s in many scenes was added win!
He runs all kinds of stuff, often taken off dead bad guys. Many movies of this genre I always wonder why, even when the hero runs dry, it never occurs to them to pick up a gun from people no longer in need of them. This movie does not suffer that flaw.
Looks like a pretty good flick. If the bad guy was running the Keltec that’s probably why he was dead and no longer needed it Did he call the dog “Daisy”? That’s one of our dog’s names
I watched it this weekend because of this thread. I liked it. Good movie. The part that I liked the most is how he did not “fight” with peoppe. He just shot them again. Most movies the hero would shoot people then do some Kung-fu stuff to “finish” them off. Not Wick, just drop the hammer again. NICE!
