yeah very well done in so many ways !!!

Finally someone makes something that is pan-American and 90% of the people will appreciate and see themselves in. You can never get everyone, 10% of people say that think the earth is flat…

Nice that they got the product placement in, but it wasn’t overly gratuitous.

Did it take an Italian company to understand and make a USA ad?

I really liked that commercial.

Jeep has had some incredibly patriotic ads in the past. Their 2011 GC commercials were the best I ever saw. More companies should have the guts to do that.

I have owned eight Jeeps between my wife and I. Unfortunately my last two (2011 and 2012 GC Overlands) have been complete disasters reliability wise. Jeep customer service is horrible to boot and the dealerships near me are total criminals. Too bad, but I’m now looking for a new car and brand.

That is too bad, I love my 14 GC.

Nice commercial…Too bad their vehicles suck donkey balls!

My '07 Commander still gits ‘r’ done. I’ll drive her a little more proudly tomorrow.

If you have the air suspension I highly recommend the an extended warranty. If you follow the Jeep forums you will see if more “when” rather than “if” the compressor blows. $2K is pretty standard. Mine went at 75K miles. So did the radiator and the rear diff motor. Also had rust under the paint on the hood and the aluminum wheels are corroding under the paint. Went through 2 wheel bearings before 30K. The real leather on dashboard pulled up in both cars. Also my 2012 rear back camera is now out. The 2011 just started leaking oil just for fun.
The Overlands are nicer than cars that coast $20000 more but the reliability has been horrible

I think I’d personally save more $$$ and buy a new Land Cruiser rather than a loaded GC. Or find a nice CPO Land Cruiser in that price range.

Or a 4Runner? Had 2 JGC. Go rid of them because of the stupid things like the HVAC door that breaks deep in the dash and hunderds to fix.

The four wheel drive systems are truly phenomenal. Simply amazing. The ergonomics are light years ahead of GM. Maybe it has gotten better in the past 10 years, but I still feel snakebit.

I dream of the LandCrusier, but I did drive a new 4 door Wrangler and it was pretty tight.

I have noticed that. It seems like the simpler, the better with them. Mine was a pretty base model (Laredo) because that’s all I could afford at the time but the overlands seem to have issues. My dad has a Limited which has done very well so far, but it doesn’t have the air suspension. I did buy the lifetime warranty which sounds amazing, and has been in my experience so far, but I’m only at 54k miles.

The 4Runner is a nice little rig, but if I can swing one someday the Land Cruiser would get the nod.

I used to sell Toyota’s (after the USMC but before the RR), and BMW’s, of all of them the Land Cruiser was the most impressive vehicle from a functionality, durability, and build quality standpoint. We were told that Toyota designs and builds the Land Cruiser to have a 20+ year service life, so they’re pretty conservative on the tech, but the whole rig is built to last from components Toyota knows for a fact will meet that goal.

We keep our vehicles for a long time, so long term durability by design is a plus.

I was a pretty big Jeep guy for a while.
Then I started working on cars for a living.
The vehicle I never work on is the 4Runner. So that’s what I drive now.

Jeep is junk.

I’ve owned two now that left me stranded while still under warranty.

The first one was a safety interlock failure within the first 3000 miles. I was assured that issue had been long ago worked out by the time I bought my second Jeep seven years later. The second one had a complete and total failure of the main computer.

My next vehicle will be anything else.

What years?

First one was 2009. Second one is 2016. The only reason I gravitated toward Jeeps in the first place is that they tend to be about four grand less than the next competitor. Not sure if that’s still true but it was when I bought both vehicles. The price gap might even be more now.

I was looking at Wranglers for a long time. Something older, late 90s, back when they were using the old 4.0ltr. Nothing here is worth the asking price. High mileage, high rust, high price. Stumbled into a 07 4Runner and glad I bought it instead of the Jeep. Just an overall better vehicle. More room, better on gas (for me), better built, less aftermarket accessories but I’m not into that anyway.

If I could afford to daily drive an older Land Cruiser I’d be all over one.

4runner sales are going up each year- and it is a 10 year old model… To me the JGC and 4Runner are really the only true SUVs for that size. When is the new 4Runner supposed to be out? Is it the 2020 or 2021?

2020 is what’s being hinted at for the 6th generation 4runner. Crossing my fingers they keep the BOF and up the engine to a V8 or V6 with supercharger or twin turbo options with more output. The 5th gen is just a little dumpy and underpowered in my opinion.

I wish jeep would make a quality vehicle, I’d buy one. They just don’t. If they made a JGC that had a body-on-frame that was reliable- it would be awesome! Instead they make a uni-body POS with a bunch of different engines and trims to choose from. Reliability in the crapper and problem after problem they just don’t seem to care to fix.

FIAT ain’t gonna resurrect the brand. They have taken it into the crapper.

Love my 4runner’s. I’ve owned a lot of them over the years and they are amazing 4 wheel drive vehicles that are built to last and easy to work on.
It’s the last body-on-fully boxed frame purpose built 4WD SUV out there. The 4th gen is my favorite all around, the 1st and 3rd gen being very close behind.

I was going to get a landcruiser, but needed more room for children so I got the Platinum Sequoia instead. Sequoia is basically a 4runner, but much larger and much bigger engine (5.7 V8). The differentials in the Sequoia are larger than the land cruiser also, that was a surprise to me. I’m very happy with it.

I’ve driven and worked on a lot of vehicles over the years, I’m loyal to toyota now for how they’ve performed, how they have lasted and how easy they are to wrench on.

I’ve owned Jeeps, Fords, Chevys, GMC’s and BMW’s; none of them held a candle to my Toyotas.

I’d love to get a LandCruiser, but the bigger cargo and roomier 3rd row in the Sequoia was a must for my needs.
