Jacksonville SO shootout Feb '22

Let’s talk about this one.

Guy tries to kill Officers after moving violation stop, who successfully defend themselves. Bad guy was wearing a “ballistic vest” as shown in still images at end of video.

4 or 5 people in car, about 1 am.

Officer did very well. JSO is known to have a pretty good training program. Probably a higher ratio of “switched on” members than many agencies.

Two things he might have done differently in hind sight:

  1. Cuff, then search
  2. What we KNOW he wishes he’d done: When you put your hand on a gun in the waistband of an uncooperative person, yank that pistol away before you try to cuff them!

He won’t make that mistake again. :+1:

All in all Officer had good demeanor when things were cool, ramped it up when neccessary, and remained as cool as could be expected. Moved, used cover, quick draw, and otherwise good tactics when things got going.

About his weapon. JSO isnt very restrictive when it comes to modifying the issued pistol. Extended mag wells, base plates, and grip enhancements are pretty common.

Glock 17 G5 with optic. Maybe someone knows what optic?

AFAIK issued ammo is still Win. Ranger 127 gr +P+.

Go to about 4:15 for action but it’s better to watch from the very beginning.

Pretty wild for sure,God bless the LEO !! Watching the vid it looks like a ACRO optic from what I can tell.
