The show adaptation is a good mindless action series. Simple as that, I enjoy it the same way I would The A Team. Don’t think too hard about it, it’s not that kind of show.
We finished the series last night. My wife says she loves it… I think she loved shirtless Reacher more than anything. She also liked the total lack of remorse in doing away with the bad guys. Mindless entertainment at the end of the day.
Thanks for the review, and I’m not taking a shot, but it let’s me know it’s not for me. I can “sorta” do A Team because of the built in nostalgia, but any modern show that bad…just ain’t for me. Add in guns, cops or military and I get super critical, makes it harder to turn off the brain.
One of my best friends can watch blow it up / shoot em ups and I really can’t watch any of the movies he watches. It’s like trying to watch NASCAR, either it’s you or it ain’t you.
Sometimes I just consciously turn my brain off to watch stuff like that show. Let the brain relax a bit because what’s going on requires no cognitive effort on my part.
Ironically I do that with documentaries. I hear and learn, but it relaxes my brain probably more than anything. I can listen to things about the pyramids, roman empire and the like all day long. Everyone is wired different. Back in the days when the History channel was actually about history, I used to leave it on all day long.
I like it - it is mindless entertainment. And he is either on the spectrum, or a semi-sociopath as to how he views things (which makes it interesting).
