iTAC products

I see they offer RDS and white light and laser, anyone have experience with their product line?

Crap or Not?

Never heard of them… but the specs don’t look terrible on their RDS… Again, I have no idea how they’d perform in real life…

I have one of the iTac RDS (basically a copy of the T-1). I was unable to remove one of the screws in order to mount it properly (1/3 co-witness) so I cannot say I am happy with it because I cannot use it the way I wanted to (on my back-up SBR). YMMV.

Looks exactly like the crappy Sig knockoff of the T1.

The SIG stuff is just re-branded iTac.

It’s one and the same with a different label. Which is why I only paid $150 for it.

They have this sight for sale -

Is it just me or does that thing look like a sight humping another sight?

yep it does look like a sight humping another sight

And they charge as much for that humping HK knock-off as RainierArms charges for a set front and rear HK style sights.

It looks like they were too lazy to offer both a low base and high base sight, and just offered them both as one silly product.

Did you heat it up? I had a problem with one of the screws and the base plate not coming off until I used an industrial strength hair dryer, they use some loctite in addition to the screws at the factory. Now I have it mounted on an ARMS #31 with spacer and it has worked just fine with a little mod to the ARMS spacer. The little rectangular bump on the top of the spacer had to be dremeled to a more square shape to fit flush on the bottom of the iTAC.

Correction, iTac is SigSauer’s “off beat” new brand (owned by sig, but not part of sig). They manufacture most of the non-firearm stuff that sig sells (lites, lasers, and holsters). They are the ones responsible for the whole Stoplite fiasco from last year (basically a lack of product testing and QC) and the rest of Sig’s substandard accessories. Their holsters are plastic and almost all of their stuff is made in china. The place where I work deals heavily with Sig and the bossman who does the ordering was quite surprised when he was offered glock and kel-tech holsters from one of Sig’s salesmen. Needless to say the stuff we got from them is not flying off the shelves.

My take on iTac; I wouldn’t call it complete junk, but it is far from the best out there.

My Sgt. got a new Sig556 recently, I think it was the Classic? In any case it came equipped with the T-1 copy RDS and that HK type diopter sight.

The RDS itself seemed ok but only time will tell. The diopter is HUGE. It dominates your field of view. Sig had the RDS and the irons directly cowitnessed and it was very difficult to use the RDS and even more difficult to see the target with all the clutter.

The RDS might not make for a bad backup or secondary weapon sight if it will hold up to use and abuse. You can keep the iron sight.

I’ve trained at Sigarms Academy multiple times. I don’t think the staff is too enamored with Sig’s accessories.

To paraphrase Mike Myers, “SIG stuff or iTac; it’s Scottish for crap!”
