Issue running this set-up?

First off i would like to say that this site and all of you guys are great, you have all opened my eyes to alot of info on M4/AR’s, even though my life has depended on it for 5 years.

Now I will be redeploying back home shortly from another year plus ‘business trip’, and i have been planning out my first M4 build. The question I have is that i am planning on running a Troy Industries 13.5" MRF-RX F.F. rail on a VLTOR MUR-1A with a Noveske 14.5" Mid-Lenght Barrel and Noveske KX3(yes i know i am going to catch alot of flak for that!).

Now if i was to get a wild hair up my ass and want to have the barrrel cut down and re-threaded @ 13.7"(i know i have seen that on another thread in here that the length and KX3 perm. attached will keep me legal), would i run into a clearence issue with the 13.5" F.F. rail?

Also on a side note, which is off for the thread, I’ve seen on Noveske’s site that they sell upper’s with 13.7’s barrel’s on them, but I have not seen just the barrel groups for sale anywhere. Any clue if that is sold anywhere? or i’m just stuck with sending it off to a good AR smith like ADCO’s?

here you go. noveske 13.7 barrel

i cut down a 16 LMT M4 profile barrel to 13.7 so i could try this configuration out. i plan on replacing the barrel with this one from Denny’s.

Hey thanks theJanitor, this is exactly what i was looking for. Now all i have to do is get home to start ordering and hopefully Household 6 won’t notice random rifle parts being shipped to the house!

Did you notice any difference with cutting down the LMT barrel you had to 13.7?

no discernible effect, positive or negative, on the barrel chop. it was done by ADCO. I went ahead with this upper configuration, after using my instructor’s rifle (equipped with the noveske 13.7 / KX3). it’s increased value as a CQB rifle is quite clear after firing it just a few times.

Good to hear that, cause i was unsure on the performance set-up as a CQB carbine.

Thanks for the link, looking around on GTS’s site, they have the complete set up i’m looking for barrel wise, with the 13.7, larue lopro gas block and KX3attached and for less $$ than i had priced it out for!
