Israeli X95?

Anyone have any experience with these?

My buddies are working with a team that is guarding a head of state and some of the principal’s body guard uses these. I’d never heard of them before.

I have no experience with them, but they have a drop free mag release…ON A BULLPUP.

Tavor variant

Summary:

Development
The IWI X95 is a further development of the 5.56 mm Micro-Tavor assault rifle originally developed for use by special forces who required a weapon of rifle calibre with reduced length. The model name of Micro-Tavor was dropped in mid-2008 and the gun was re-launched as the dual-calibre X95. As issued, the X95 is chambered for the 5.56 × 45 mm cartridge, but a simple to install conversion kit allows a rapid change in calibre as the tactical situation demands. The use of a conversion kit also removes the need for two separate weapon systems and the manufacturer claims there is a 70 per cent commonality of parts between the two models. For details of the X95 9 mm sub-machine gun version, see separate entry in the Sub-machine gun section under Israel.

Description
The X95 compact assault rifle is of bullpup design with full polymer receiver. A short length of MIL-STD M1913 Picatinny rail is provided above the receiver for mounting a reflex or other form of sight. The cocking-handle is located on the left side of the weapon and the selector-lever is mounted above the pistol-grip/trigger assembly. If required, a suppressor can be fitted.

Do they have a reputation for??

Thats basically the final evolution of what started as the MTAR or Micro Tavor.

I assume, based on the success of the TAR/Tavor that its a solid rifle, but who knows. That logic doesnt always work, as the SIG 550/1 vs 552 comes to mind

I want to see a side by side comparison with the X95 and the AUG A3 CQC as well as performance, range, customization, functionality and so on. I haven’t seen enough of the X95 so I can’t make a decision on the AUG A3 yet. What I most like about the X95 is its compactness, like the AUG A3 most of the weight is near the rear allowing for longer shouldering. You guys should check out kit up:

Why does the X95 have a drop free mag, but the full size Tavor doesn’t?

The X95 has an AR-15 style mag release for your trigger finger.

The TAR-21 has a trigger style mag release paddle in front of the magazine, behind your firing hand.

I know that, but I mean why would they design the X95 with that capability, but not the TAR-21?

You’re going to have to ask the manufacturers themselves to know that…

Now that I think about it. There is a video on youtube of a guy doing drop free mag changes with the old style Tavor.

What he does is bump the mag release paddle with his shooting hand thumb by just extending the thumb knuckle backwards.

You have a link? It would be awesome to be able to actually watch it.

Ok, had to search my ass off, but I found it.

Holy shit. That makes me want a Tavor.

And now you see why I’ve tribulations between the MTAR 21 and the AUG A3

Well, one of the reasons I will wait for an X95 when the Tavor comes out in the US is the AR15 style mag release, another reason is that the X95 has a shorter length of pull than the TAR21 and is lighter for the same length barrel.

The X95 really is like a second or third generation Tavor with many improvements.

Shit. I’ve always kinda liked the Tavor better, but this is starting to make me want to actually buy one. As in the only 5.56mm based gun I’d own that wasn’t an AR-15.

It [i]is[i] a Tavor, it’s called a Mini Tavor Assault Rifle 21st Century, hence the name MTAR-21 aka X95. It was made for the Israeli Special Ops for CQB and is highly adaptable. I just hate that the fact it’s coming out as of mid or ending of next year, I will not settle for the FN2000 or AUG A3 CQC until I’ve seen and/or hold the best of the best compact bullpups side by side, but it seems like I might have to go for the AUG, it really is a shame!:cray:
