Does it add any real utility?
I’m REALLY REALLY close to buying a stripped forged one, to further enhance my M6A3, and just want to know, before this rifle no longer resembles an LWRCi rifle.
Is it actually worth it?
And does it weigh more than a standard stripped upper receiver?
if you’ve got a working/functional upper, than it won’t do anything more.
if you’re building an upper from scratch, it’s a great option. the action is smooth as silk in mine.
To enhance an existing rifle, not worth it at all.
If you’re building? The Rainier, LaRue, and VLTOR uppers are all fantastic, there’s a couple more recent ones to consider too - I run a pair of MUR’s on my precision oriented builds.
Weight is almost identical, and performance really isn’t affected. Mostly cosmetic, but the forged MUR’s are the nicest looking uppers out there.
Does it increase the service life of existing parts?
Not likely.
Looks like it’ll go in the safe until I need to do something with it.
I already bought it.
Might go on my SPR variant.
I have one. That rifle doesn’t function differently than the other rifles with quality, “standard” uppers. But, it sure does look cool though!
