I would like to know if it is possible to take a carbine length rifle and gas tube and change it to a mid-length by just swapping out the tubes and moving the front sight the extra length of the longer tube? Thank you all in advance for your responses and advice.
this isnt going to turn out well for you.
the answer is “NO” its not that simple.
Have you been banned from here recently?
Not me, but thanks for asking.
Ok, thanks Randolph was just wondering if it could be done.
Let 'er rip fellas
WTF really! Does common sense just not exist in your plane of being? Take your left and right hands, clasp them around your neck and apply pressure until you get a clue!
After being registered here for 3 1/2 years I would expect a different thread subject. I suggest using the search feature, the orange “button”, located near the top of this page.
It was a question no need for everyone to get all upset, didn’t say I was going to do it I was just asking if it could be done. I hope to some day have as much knowledge as it seems most of you all do, but I would hope that if asked a question I would have the ability to help that person learn without insulting them. Just saying.
I did and nothing came back, guess I should have taken that as my clue…
OP,
the gas in the gas tube comes from holes drilled in the barrel.
if you reposition the gas block, you have to plug holes and drill holes.
its easier to sell your carbine upper/barrel and buy a middy upper/barrel.
2 keywords come to mind when seeing this thread.
bait… and gullible.
Thanks again Randolph, not an option, just a brain fart…
READ! SLOWLY and CAREFULLY and notice that the OP Jmel is no longer among us.
.
Read this guys Thread.
Maybe it’ll explain some of the “attitudes”.

Thanks, that clearly explains all I needed to know.
Thank you all for your quick responses, I’m not trying to get banned thats for sure just trying to gain some knowledge, the thread that was passed on to me let me know I still have as much to learn as he did, only difference was I didn’t do it then ask for help, I asked for help first before screwing my rifle up. Thanks again.
