Hey All,
I’m not too familiar with Troy sights so I need some input. Is this a fake/knock off Troy sight? The front post Aperture does not have the normal indent for the “4 post” adjustment tool. Is this how it’s made??? The sight actually locks up tight with zero wiggle. If this is a fake, it a high quality fake…lol. Anyways, any input would be appreciated.
I only have one example to compare with, and it is a Bravo Company folding sight, made by Troy Industries, so this may not help you much. The top of the sight where the sight post goes has a small cut out on the very front top center of it for the detent and yours appears to be missing this. Perhaps this just inadvertantly made it pass quality control at Troy. but it just looks wrong.
Additionally, on the bottom of the sight mine has the Troy symbol and three lines of text: 1) Troy Industries, Inc.; 2) Made in USA; and 3) Lot #. Of course, mine has BCM on the front where yours has the three lines of text. Perhaps you could call/email Troy Industries with the part # and lot # and find out for sure. Hope this helps.
Upon second look, perhaps it had a tritium insert at one time. The LaRue Tactical Troy front folding battle sight with tritium insert looks similar, from the top view.( http://www.laruetactical.com/troy-front-folding-front-battle-sight-tritium-insert) Perhaps someone switched out the tritium insert for a nontritium one. Did you buy this sight used?
Yes, I bought this sight used from another member (not from a reputable dealer). From the link you posted, I can’t really tell. Thanks for the info tho. I would consider this sight to be a fake but it seems robust and of quality built.
Cage code should be listed on the front of the sight base where the PN# is listed and on the BOTTOM of that base it should read “MADE IN USA” instead of “folding battle sight”. I ran into this issue.
