Yes it is. A good portion of the weapon comes from KAC (which typically run in the $4k-$6K range). So that right there makes it a good deal.
If that is not enough, you have to look at the fact that you got a MONO Rail system. The MRP gives you the option of changing out barrels which in turn will allow you to change calibers. Can your DPMS do that?
The HK might be a good gun, but we have no idea. HK says a lot of things. As always we wil believe it when we see one in our shop.

im with grant 100% on this one. the MRP 308 is a steal.
I guarantee you that the H&K MR762 will cost considerably more than $2500. $2500 will be the price range for the MR556.

As for the mono rail that’s great assuming one needs it. Many of us shooting medium to longer ranges don’t have the need for a rail system for that application.

No part of the DPMS follows any standard. The only standard that DPMS DOES know is the one the puts the most money in their pocket (cutting corners).

I could sell DPMS all day long. I CHOOSE not too. Understand the difference?? So we could have “stake” in DPMS, but don’t want too as their guns suck.

What you fail to understand about me is that I am a shooter first and a dealer second. I don’t stock gear that I don’t like or don’t believe in. This is why there is not a single DPMS product in our shop.
So as painful as it maybe to hear, we don’t play favorites just because we are a dealer for that company.

Full disclosure: Don’t own anything DPMS, never have. Own a LMT defender 2000 lower (with BCM upper), and a KAC SR-25. So I do not feel I have a dog in this fight. For what it is worth I think that the DPMS’s LR series rifles are their best product.

for that it looks like you are getting a stainless steel, quick change barrel setup. A better rail system, and a fully ambi lower receiver. Also you are getting a weapon that was awarded the contract by the British MOD. I am not sure as to DPMS’s two stage trigger vs the LMTs but the LMTs is nice.
I would say that it is worth it.
I don’t think comparing any DPMS to a similar LMT model is a fair comparison. Not to mention comparing a base model DPMS to a fully loaded LMT. I think a better comparison would be the LMT vs. the Larue OBR, or the LWRC REPR, or maybe the SR25 EM carbine (at double the price).
I find it interesting that you’re waiting for the HK, which will cost a lot more than the LMT.
But to answer your question, yes I think it’s worth it.

I’m SO close to dropping the hammer on the SR-25 EM Carbine. But again without having both together to compare, and yes knowing the EM is about 2000 dollars more, is there a right or wrong way to decide on the gun?

Short answer is yes. It is priced at the same price as its peers with similar offerings.
FWIW, I had a 16" Armalite AR-10 A4 that I bought new for around $1,300.00 and after almost doubling the price in modifications and accessories it most likely was still not on par with the LMT. Although I have only seen photos of the LMT .308 I am basing my opinion on owning 3 MRP’s and being very impressed with the quality of machining that goes into producing them. The added features of the ambi-lower are icing on the cake.

I’ve been thinking the same thing today. I think that, outside of credible multiple negative reports, there won’t be an easy way. The feature set appears to be similar. KAC has a sex appeal and experience of providing 7.62 platforms to real-deal good guys, but LMT just got that UK contract. That’s all I could come up with.
I know you wanted to exclude price from consideration, but, no matter how hard I tried to do so, I couldn’t. I can afford SR-25, but I can’t justify it.
Frankly, with REPR hitting the shelves, OBR and SCAR-H on horizon, and civy HK-417 possibly, maybe, tentatively happening in our life time, I am willing to wait before making a decision.
Some of you are making me doubt my decision. 
I feel the same way. The SR25 EM carbine is exactly what I want in a .308 AR style carbine. I also trust KAC products, especially my SR15E3. I could probably swing an SR25 if really wanted too, but I can’t justify the cost. Don’t get me wrong, it might be worth every bit of the ~$5K price, but as hard as I try I can’t bring myself to pull the trigger on one because of the price.
i work with KAC products and WILL NEVER OWN ONE personally. There is a alot of history of of backdooring and beging a cheapskate with him and the military. I know I don’t have many posts on here so take my opinion for what you will but trust me i have a good amount of time on KAC products.
LMT has 10 years of tinkering with the .308 platform trying to make something worth having. I highly doubt that they would have won a contract by submitting a steaming pile. The weapon is worth it. The question you need to ask is “Are the aftermarket barrels worth $XXX.XX?”
