Is Paulaner Hefe-Weizen the best beer on the planet?

It is, right?

Sorry for the second non-firearms thread in a week, but I am having my first Paulaner in a long time right now. I am wondering why I allowed such a gap between this time and the last time (some months back) when this is such a good beer.

A question for the Sunday participants: what’s your favorite beer?

Hmm…having not had that particular one, I can’t agree with you. I will say though that I’m hugely partial to the hefeweizen brews I’ve had in the past. It all depends on my mood really as to what I’m drinking.

I WILL say that I hosted a party at my place a few nights ago, and someone showed up with a case of the new Miller MGD 64 calorie stuff. I swear it was beer flavored water…very watered down, no taste at all to it really. NOT a fan…

I might very well be!! It certainly is a derned fine brew.

Spaten Optimator…mmmmmm

I also had a Michelob Light (not ultra) the other day and it had a surprisingly decent flavor.

Free!!

Favorite but hard to get: U Fleku

Easy to get:

Pilsner Urquell
Staropramen
Cechvar

Never had that brand… I like dark beer we have a local festival that has Warsteiner Dunkel. It is a dark german beer, and i rather enjoy it…

Pilsner Urquell, "Na zdravi " !

This is–first hand knowledge. I had it straight from the huge wooden barrels and wooden spigot, with a homemade pretzel-at the time it was 5 dm’s for the liter of brew and the pretzel. Late 80’s exchange rate would make that about 2-2.50 US

Although I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad Brew while over there–even in the DDR(East Germany)

I also attended a real October Fest–ample sampling of all the eight Munich breweries and plenty of Cornish Hens!

Mark

Bitburger. Anything from a micro brewery.

Not much better than a cold Guinness! I will say that the Paulaner is especially nice on a warm day like today. Too bad I had neither of them this weekend. No range time either :frowning:

Asta jedno prosim…

Paulaner what country is it from?Anyone herd of Baltika Russian beer?

For a hefe, it’s real hard to beat Pyramid. Though most unfiltered hefes taste pretty similar to me.

Other than that it’s Newcastle, St. Arnold’s Brown Ale, Shiner Bock, Samuel Adams Boston Lager, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, more than I can name. Actually this is an exercise in futility, picking one beer is like picking one single meal to eat for the rest of your life…there are too many great things to pick.

With that said, the mainstream American beers tend to taste like alcoholic club soda to me. Disgusting.

Trivia…Anheuser Busch is the worlds largest consumer of rice. Anheuser Busch produces more beer in one hour than St. Arnold’s brews in an entire year.

:D:DTo answer the original poster, Yes, it is. My future father in law is a beer judge for the micro brews around here and he told me that it and a few others (Franzikaner) are true Hefe’s. Note the hint of banana finish? That is one of the trademarks of that style. Awesome Brew, made in Germany and affordable. Lately I’ve been doin the Belgium thing. Ever try a Chimay?

buy plane ticket to germany
spend a week there
come back
ask same question again…

One of my all time favorites! Now for some others, Bluemoon,Samual Adams Hefe Weizen,Hogarten,Dogfish Midas brew, and a bunch of others that I cant remember or spell.

I’ll add in; while in Germany take a train to Prague. Then ask the question.

The August Beer festival in Prauge is not as large as the spring or october fest in Munich but the beer is more varied and much better. Every village in that country has a micro brewery.

You can’t be the largest beer drinking country per capita with bad beer:D

+1 I never thought I liked Pilsner until I drank some Czech ones. Besides, Prague is an awesome city with a lot of history. Plus it’s about the only major European city that wasn’t totally trashed during WWII.

Pilsner Urquell
WIDMER hefeweizen
Shiner Bock
