So I’ve been using my peltor 6s tactical hearing protection for years and they are probably one of the best investments I have made when it comes to shooting. I was thinking about getting a pair of MSA Sordins latley. There has been one too many times I pull my peltors out of my range bag and they have inadvertently been turned on and the batteries are dead. I tend to keep extra batteries in my range bag, but it’s a pain in the you know what changing them. Very frustrating. Electronic ears are a necessity when attending classes and I plann on attending at least 6 or 7 classes this year. I will not be using coms with my headset at this point. So would it be worth it to spend $325 for a pair of Sordin MSAs with the gel ear inserts? What would I be gaining?
Sound quality, weather proofing, and battery life.
These are the advantages with the MSA’s.
Comfort can be increased on your peltors by installing the gel cups and upgrading the head wrap.

Where they the Supreme Pro-X’s? Did MSA fix them under warranty?
Anything electronic can fail of course, but this is surprising to hear. I’ve had my Sordin’s for several years and have put them through absolute hell. They have held up exceptionally well and have only needed battery and gel cup replacements for PM.

I agree on the Supreme ProX. Mine have been through two significant rainstorms, lots of sweat, lots of being dropped.

I have a pair of Peltor tac sports that I have had for maybe 5 years and have changed batts twice. I upgraded to gel cups and a head wrap and I love them. The only bad thing about gel cups that I don’t see mentioned enough is they are HOT! I mean buckets of ear sweat. They seal so well that they do not breath at all, but they are extremely comfortable.

Yea the cups get so hot in the summer. Sometimes I just go with the surefire earpros. My peltors will fill up with sweat!
I’ve been wondering the same thing. If you take the wrap off of the band will they fit under a helmet? Or is it too thick?
The Sordin’s are a bitch to change the batteries on too. I have them, but much prefer my Comtac IIs. No experience with the Tac 6s, but I don’t think the Sordin’s are worth it.

I took the plunge and ordered them today. I have a an advanced tactical pistol class and then an advanced tactical rifle class next month. I’ll put about 2000 rounds down range between those 2 classes. We’ll see what I think after that!

Is srstactical still the place to get these? I was looking online at their site and could not decide on head band or neckband. I wear a wide brim hat alot when shooting or mowing, so I’m thinking of the neckband. I noticed the neckband had a strap that goes over the head too, is that necessary or will the neck band be sufficient? Thanks for any comments.
That’s where I ordered mine from best price I could find. Oddly enough I ordered them while on vacation in Florida and they shipped from 30 min away from where I was staying. Needles to say they were sitting in my mail box when I got home. They are amazing! Great upgrade from the Peltors
My Sordins are about 10 years old, only issues I ever have are related to dying batteries or a loose battery cap. Dakota winters and Texas summers haven’t done anything to them that I can tell, they’ve seen plenty or rain and snow.
Anyone use the Sordin Supreme Basic?
I had a pair of Peltor 6S’s and now use Sordin ProX’s and there is literally no comparison. 6S’s had horrible battery life, accidentally turned on constantly, and died rather quickly- my Sordin’s have been running like champs for years with personal and military use in rain, dirt, moondust ect ect and I’ve only changed the batteries a few times and only because I figured it was about time. I wish they fit a little better under my ACH, but otherwise I’m very happy with them.
