Is the price diff. worth it for the Crusader? I understand that Noveske is pretty much top of the heap when it comes to barrels, I am just trying to decide between the 11.5 BCM barrel or the 12.5 Crusader. If I do go with the Crusader it just puts other stuff on the back burner for the time being. Any help ![]()
Do you mean a standard BCM barrel or the SS410 Barrel?
At an SBR length Iād personally stick with a standard BCM.
Anecdotally: I am mot saying the Noveske or BCM stainless would not shoot better farther. But at typical SBR distances I am not sure there is much of a dif.
Does the inch matter to you?
Do you perceive an accuracy margin?
What is the realistic distance you would shoot an SBR?
Myself I would be more concerned about chamber differences.
FWIW I recently put a 10x on an LMT 10.5 and shot a 10 round group in to the eye box of an IPSC at 100. These were handloads sized to fit a different rifle with a much tighter chamber. The 10.5 standard LMT shot all into the eye box. The 10 rounds yielded two groups of 4 with lateral stringing but one ragged hole for each. These two groups of 4 rounds were separated by 1" with a single odd flyer at each of the top corners of the box. They were true flyers - as in I watched impact through the scope and said WTF? POA was the same for all 10 rounds. What I am saying is, I think if you wanted to make a backpack capable sub MOA 200 yard rig you could by simply tuning a load to even a standard grade barrel.
Good luck
I own a Crusader and itās an absolutely terrific barrel. For an SBR, the recoil is incredibly smooth and accuracy isā¦legendary.
That said, Iām sure BCMās 11.5" is very nice too.
But if I could only have one, Iād keep the Crusader.
If money where no object Iād strongly consider the Crusader. But if that would āputs other stuff on the back burner for the time beingā, I go with the BCM.
Either will be a good choice in the end Iām sure.
The same question I am asking myself now. Though I have a Noveske N4 10.5 barreled build. Probably will end up with the Crusader. Though I heard through a fellow and I have forgotten his name at Noveske that a 12.5" N4 is inbound. Just need to start saving for either of them.
Flip a coin, canāt go wrong either way. If you need to save some loot why not just get the BCM and keep the project movingā¦
Go with the Noveske, you will not be disappointed.
