Is it the fluoride, or???

Im trying to figure out what is making people retarded jellyfish.

Is it the fluoride in the water? Vaccines? T.V./computers/ipods? Breeding? Microwaves?

Seriously, the people are fucking stupid. Half of the people I deal with on a daily basis are probably at a 6th grade level of intelligence…IF THAT. I dont know how these people can dress themselves, let alone function in society…

Guess what, Zombies are real. They’re everywhere. Just go to your local sports bar and watch the zombies that are crying about the refs screwing them and “their” team. Or the jellyfish that are pumped about their “obama phones”.

People are fucking dumb.

Racist ?

It seems like a contagion virus. I knew things weren’t right for several years but was unsure of the causation(s). Several contributing factors. Mostly education, laziness & critical thinking skills deficit.

Standby as more “dumbness” about to transpire. Followed by more stupidness, silliness, irresponsible unaccountable behaviors by leadership roles & Deer in the headlights looks…

I’m glad I was raised on well water my entire childhood. :secret:

Honestly I think its just social media and entertainment over the past 20 years. Dumbing people down. People are more interested in American Idol results than the presidential election.

We know 10x more in 2012 than we did in 1912. Shame that knowledge is mostly wasted.

Starts at school, well, government schools anyway. Continues in the media and culture. Making people dumb is the American way!

After a few critical events here in the homeland and the sheep will be gagging for a dictatorship of the proletariat.

I could see:
“Get rid of that stupid constitution if that’s what it will take to keep my free phone and EBT card turned on!” Perhaps with less grammar.

Starts at school

There it is! The marxists have long been perverting the nations public school system, however, in the aftermath of the Gingrich revolution and his contract with America, they really ramped it up, now after two and a half decades, its finally reached critical mass…

Its more then ironic that as a boy, the marxists were looking to inclucate us with, “trust nobody over thirty,” today we can trust nobody under thirty!

I think it’s the alien islamist marxists that helped, while working with the KGB and Al Qaeda (time doesn’t matter in this scenario) start the secret breeding program in Hawaii that led to the illegal birth of our current African President. As soon as this anti christ was in womb, the rally scary NWO started forcing vaccines, and medication down our throat to make us stupid. Decades later and we find ourselves with stupid people walking the streets, and typing on internet forums.

Despite the rant, maybe, just maybe it’s more about the fact that our dialogue and ability to converse as humans has broken down over the last ten years as a result of 3rd party platforms that remove us from face to face contact.

Or it could just be the aliens.

I find this to be the most likely culprit for why people aren’t very good at communication anymore. Grammar, sentence structure, and paragraph organization are dead as a result of texting and internet chat. Grammar does in fact accurately reflect the ability of a person to process and relay information, even in speech.

There have always been a lot of stupid people around. Nerfing the planet has just made it so that stupid people can behave all the more stupidly without consequences.

“Just think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are even stupider!” - George Carlin

Or it could just be the aliens.

Or that.

It is a combination of a lot of things (in no particular order):

poor nutrition

victim mentality taught kids at a young age

lack of personal responsibility

lack of parenting

schools whose purpose is to “brainwash” people into good little workers

affluence – people don’t have to worry about their next meal so they worry about American Idol instead. Too much and too readily accessible “entertainment”

decline of religion. And I am not talking about belief in God so much as the moral education and stress on service and serving others that you find in most religions at the grass roots level. And for the non-believers, your atheism religion could and probably at one time did, also stress these things.

As part of that, things like the Boy Scouts, and other civic organizations used to be looked up to. Now, not so much in much of the country. Too many people are offended if the Boy Scouts or other civic organizations don’t become cheerleaders for their particular fetish.

“I” instead of “We” or “You”. Everything is about the individual, and not about others.

The huge build up of too many laws.

Related to that, People don’t want to get involved any more for fear of breaking a law or getting sued or whatever. So people don’t tend to know their neighbors, get involved in the neighborhood, and make sure that their own kids and the neighbor kids aren’t out messing around. There was a time that if Johnny was messing around, Mr. Jones down the street seeing him would make sure Johnny’s father knew. Now, if Johnny has a father at home, Mr. Jones won’t tell him what Johnny was up to in order to not “get involved.”

and probably a bunch of other things I missed.

ETC: oh, and probably the fluoride as well. Flouride ingested as been shown to cause mental deficiencies. There is a reason most of western europe got rid of public waters supplies being fluoridated.

I just something the other day about some school that wants to not teach about the Civil War anymore.

Bro, aren’t those contradictory?

I’m thinking he meant poor nutrition as in high fat, sugary, processed, preservative filled crap.

Several years ago in a sociology class, one of the things we talked about that struck me is how the media-namely TV commercials, have changed over the years. They used to be one or maybe two angle shots. Now they are all over the place, in order to grab and hold attention. A thirty second commercial might have six camera changes now, some more. The teacher was questioning if this was due to ADD or helping to manipulate ADD. Which brings me to the over medication of youth in the last twenty or so years. I was born in 81. Growing up, I had a lot of friends on medication for this or that. I guess this helped the victim mentality, but what other health concerns are we yet to see from all the Ritalin and Adderal? While some of my friends might have needed the pills, I would say more of them could have used more discipline from home.

Reading this thread, I am struck with humorous thought that this is all probably what our elders said of us when we were younger. Maybe not exactly the same due to technology, but generally the same - “these young whipper snappers are not worth a crap”!

Cultural degradation and aspiration and teaching to the lowest common denominator.

I was born in 1973 and I remember how it was “uncool” to be “smart”.

I was in an advanced “gifted” program and was reading at the 12th grade level in 5th grade. I was ridiculed and abused constantly. The only way I could be even remotely accepted socially, was to drop out of that program and act like everyone else rather than aspiring to my fullest potential.

The only “success” that is socially acceptable anymore is sports or entertainment and the resulting idolization of the cultural identities of those “successful” people.

I remember being in college with “Penny” Hardaway and getting a daily dose of how great he was while a fellow engineering student was working on a new design (with a local biomedical firm) for a hip replacement thigh bone “bonding” surface that would greatly increase the success of getting the patient’s bones to fuse with the implant.

Which one was more ultimately valuable to those self same people who were constantly raving about his ability to toss an air filled sack of leather into a hole?:frowning:

No. Why would you think they are contradictory?

The KIND of food you buy and eat is not directly related to your affluence.

And the country as a whole is affluent. Since when do poor people (a lot of them) have iPods, cell phones, and flat screen TVs?

But people still buy crap to eat and skimp on the healthy stuff. Rich or poor.

Yep. Luckily I (b. 1966) did not give a crap and found the other smart kids to hang out with. And I took up a musical instrument and the school band was more likely to have a higher percentage of smart kids in it compared to the average.

And we spent our free time playing dungeons and dragons, Avalon Hill tactical and strategy games, and being on the math team. Basically said “screw you” to the a*sholes.

I always dreamed about this.:frowning:

I, however, grew up in a rural area and my high school graduating class was only 63 kids. The whole high school was only 300 or so kids. There was only a couple of other kids who even knew what D&D was other than as an entry into evil Satan worshipping.

You also had to have some type of musical talent to be in our band because it was so small there was no way to “hide” and pretend to play or at least disguise my lack of talent by drowning me out… (I tried…):o

Can you cite any evidence that eating, say fruits, is somehow better for you than eating chicken, for instance? Something peer-reviewed and not FDA or pseudo-science?

Here’s a for instance: http://www.bryanmarcel.com/the-food-pyramid-flaw# I don’t know how valid this particular page is, but this is the general gist of research concerning what we “know” about food.

My point is that there are a lot of problems with the food pyramid - chiefly that it was designed by corporate farmers and not nutritionists.

Finally, I bet if you offered any of the “crap” food to the starving people of Africa and Asia, they would “live” longer and not “die” as a result of eating it…

As much as I hate the education system and do believe that it spends far more effort at indoctrinating kids to the lowest common denominator, it has little to no bearing on how a kid turns out nor on how well educated said kid will be. If you believe that the system here is more nefarious and advanced at indoctrination than under Communism you’re smoking some funny stuff. I grew up behind the old Iron Curtain, went to public school as did the rest of my family. However not one of us fell for the Communist crap. We all went along and did the daily grind and kept our opinions to our self. The biggest difference for us was that we all had parents who have a shit and made sure that we didn’t become fuck ups. IMO this is the biggest problem we have with our society today. Too many dumbass parents who have no ability to focus on what is important for their children and who are more than willing to completely abdicate all sense of responsibility. Till we solve that fundamental issue no amount of leading people to water will do any good.

I’m afraid that however tantalizing that conclusion may be, the reality is far more complex,

http://alettertothetimes.wordpress.com/2009/03/11/the-frankfurt-school-and-cultural-marxism-a-primer/

there really are people in the background, manipulating events, inculcating the youth into lockstep with the marxist doctrine, its real! I could argue, well at that, that its your conclusion that is the real fodder of tin foil hattism…

Generally, I’m not a Chris Rock fan. However, there are a couple of topics where he nails it. This is one of them…
