I’m planning a trip to Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk this year and have heard a few horror stories about bringing anything that looks military through the airport. I want to take concealable body armor (non-ITAR controlled) for road travel between the two cities and I’d hate to lose it at the airport, anyone with recent experience? Doing some backpacking and sightseeing, nothing too exciting.

My view is if I feel it necessary to take body armor - I don’t go there unless I’m backed up by a few thousand Marines.
This includes cities in the US such as Detroit and Chicago.
