Iraqgunz posted the idea in Grant’s ‘Training?’ thread with the idea for M4C to have regional gatherings for training, info swap and gear impressions.
I like the idea, nextweekend at ToddG’s SFHF class we will be having a mini-version of it with some of us close to Grant guys going to visit Katar in ‘ba burgh’ and I am certain I will be welcome and educated during the weekend. It’s fun putting real faces to online handles, or in the case of some folk integrating the person you already have met with their 'net persona.
I believe things my way are headed in a very good direction re: hosting training. I plan on bringing two traveling instructors next year and it’s looking very good that I will be able to run a (free!) weekly training group at the same facility.
More on this as it develops, but M4C’ers in the Pgh. area are always welcome!
Dunno, since I just latched onto Iraqgunz idea…he can figure it out:D
Florida has a lot of great ranges, at least if I go by all the courses offered there, so you all would have to break it down to having a big enough area to draw enough folk to make it worthwhile to drive, but not so big that it ain’t worth the drive.
eta It must be time to log off when I start stating the obvious that badly.
Not in OK, but my residence is in Kansas. I’m deployed as of now, but will be back in early December. I’m all about getting together at points throughout the year for this sort of thing. We could surely find some sort of rally point for those of us in the Midwest area. I’m looking at bring some instructors to central KS in 2009. I already have one date locked down in June for Pat Rogers, and am working on a handgun class in Spring/Summer. There are others in the area that would jump on some of this, but I don’t know of a large group. Seems like a lot of folks on the board are Virginians, Floridians, or from the SW.
I will be home sometime after 23 SEP until around 02 NOV. I will be living in the West Valley area of Phoenix. From what I understand there is a lot of open shooting area out there. I am sure that as this goes on each “region” or area can hash out the details as to location dates, etc…
I keep a calendar of local shooting events on the main page of my site.
We do a drills night every first Tuesday evening of the month at Markham Park in western Broward county. One side of the range is carbine, one side handgun.
We also do my carbine match on the fourth Tuesday evening, but we have a mandatory orientation for those matches. The best way to find out about the orientations is to come to the drills. You can find my AAR for the last carbine match here.
More information about the club as a whole can be found here http://tssaidpa.us/
I am not in OK, but right next door in Arkansas. I would love to attend a regional. I would not have much to add, but would love to learn some drills and such.
Isnt there quite a few from the TX area on here too? Maybe we can find a good meeting point in the middle for us. I am game, anyone else down here?

The Tulsa, OK, Joplin, MO, Fayetteville, AR, Springfield, MO could be a good Midwest regional area to meet. Of course we would have to find a range to host and such. There are some trainers I know of in Tulsa, that I may be able to contact, to see if the range they utilize is available for open use.
Why not add a sticky to the Training Announcement section for “Quid Pro Quo Courses”, wherein board members can post events they are willing to host, sponsor or put on at no (or little) cost to M4C members… in return for the chance to take part in another members course one day?
