Hello everyone. My name is Isaac Demarest and I am an eternal student. I have been involved in tactical training for almost 2 decades and I take about 200-300 hours of instructor led training each year, usually with my wife.
I am currently on the Board of Directors of the NRA and am seek reelection until many of the issues we face are resolved or I can find a similar person to replace me. Most of us are aware of the myriad issues the NRA has and the ignorance they have shown towards the issues the tactical community faces practicing the Second Amendment.
My goal on this forum is twofold. Continue to expand my learning and training opportunities from people with like-minded attitudes and to serve as your representative with the NRA for the issues you see and find. In this manner you can reach out to me and we can address issues that we find, such as the simunition ban that occurred a few years ago. If you have trained with some form of simunition in the previous 4 years it is because my presence on the NRA board allowed me to bring this issue to the NRA legal and they found and supported domestic manufacturers like Force on Force selling to training companies and civilians.
In order for people like us to ultimately affect change in the NRA we need to have greater influence on the composition of the NRA board. I undertook this challenge because my previous mantra was “screw the NRA” and my wife challenged me to do something about it. After an orientation on the board I realized we could not replace or recreate the 2A infrastructure the NRA has, so we need to fix it instead.
If you have the ability to vote in the NRA election please consider “bullet” voting (limiting your vote to one or two candidates so they get 29 – 14 votes instead of 1), and consider voting for me, Isaac Demarest, the one person on the board who actually uses and trains with the gear and tactics we have. My goal is to get reelected this year (between now and March), and next year get a person like us also on the board. In two years I am looking to find another person with the means and time to also be a good candidate for the NRA board (elections are in 3 year terms) so we can have 3 people like us on the board. Once the tactical community can prove to get 3 people elected to the board, my goal is to have enough tactical shooters as NRA members that we can then split our vote to two candidates and increase our influence to 6 board members and so on. In this manner we would have presence on multiple committees and votes on the issues important to us.
NRA ballots are either mailed out or usually found in your magazine (so please don’t throw it away this month). You can find out more about me here - HOME | Isaac Demarest For The NRA Board of Directors
My training experience includes schools like Greenline tactical, Tactical Response, Thunder Ranch, Scott Jedlinski, Warrior Poet, Steve Fischer, Kinetic Consulting, TNVC, and many, many others. We usually take multiple classes several times to really gain understanding of the concepts we learn and I am always open to other schools of training people might recommend.
