Saw a video on vimeo I think. Google RAS 12. It’s about 2.5 minutes long. Polymer , proprietary ammo, 12 gauge, AR platform and uses AR10 lower, single stack box mag. Ammo has rebated rim. Looks pretty neat and better than the 1919 or whatever the other one is called, IMO.
proprietary ammo is a non starter. Given how ubiquitous a 12 gauge is, I can’t imagine that this will go anywhere.

You’re probably right, especially how the shooting is opposed to pretty much anything new that isn’t 100% backward compatible with what they already have or is at the local dealer. If shooters had the same mentality that electronics guys have, there’s no telling what would be on the market today. But as you alluded to, most gun owners are fuddy in their beliefs if not equipment choices. Same with guitarists vs bassists. I still think it could take off if marketed right. Ammo cost and rate of production would be a lynchpin.
I run a saiga 12 so I get the advantage of a box mag. They need to figure out how to get it to work with existing ammo. If a 1947 design can be made to work, not sure why a modern one cant.

‘Modern’ is part of the problem. The crudeness of the AK system is why it works so well (the G3, FAL and other stamped, pipe guns from the era are much the same). Not that new is bad, but over refinement can cause problems in any system where there are too many external variables. You know, like war.
