It’s a worm hole, but I don’t think that it is man made (at this point I don’t know). I’m thinking they discovered it and that is what prompted them to begin space exploration again since the Earth is dying.
Yeah the worm hole was odd looking, from what I saw it appeared to me a sphere that what led me to man made. It appeared they did not cryo freeze the astronauts but used some super air rated liquid under sedation? Haha I guess I am thinking into it too much as there was still a ton not revealed, can’t wait to see this one though.
BTW Moose, did you ever fill out the application for the one way trip to mars colonization mission? ![]()
What do you think a natural wormhole looks like?
And I’d guess that they went into cryo because Saturn might be in the neighborhood, but we’re still low-crawling.
I thought it looked like how it is represented in most scifi shows and or documentaries with CGI. Some sort of vortex that you can see a solar system or galaxy on the other side, not a bubble.
I think the time frame is way before cryo freeze tech. It looks as if the world takes a dump via over population, topsoil depletion, et al. in the not too distant future. The best and brightest have to nut and bolt a space program together from left over parts and the cyro sleep contraption is reminiscent of the liquid oxygen they used at extreme depths in The Abyss.
When it was discovered that they would not allow me to colonize Mars with just myself and the Swedish Bikini team I withdrew my application forthwith.
Fair 'nuff.
I think a bubble is probably (eventually going to prove) a more accurate representation, though. It’s a three-dimensional hole in space-time through which light can pass… meaning that from one perspective, you might be able to see (part) of the solar system (and only part of it, especially if it is inside the destination solar system).
Also: Am I the only one who thinks that it doesn’t need to be that humanity has destroyed the planet, but rather a simple and natural consequence of human overpopulation during a dust bowl period in the Midwest? I mean, the Midwest isn’t just the breadbasket of North America and Western Europe, but the breadbasket of the world (not saying that Ukraine, parts of Poland and Russia, and parts of China couldn’t also be world-feeding bread baskets… they just aren’t).
You are spot on about the US being the bread basket to the world.
Based off the two trailers we have, we’re just grasping staws here. There is only a few inches of top soil on the planet that keeps us fed so it is not too far out of the realm of possibilites for something like this to transpire as it has in the recent past with the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. I do not get the vibe that this movie is going the whole global warming greenie route. Merely over population, crop failure, global economic collapse as a result.
Yes sir, I’m a huge fan of the Alien, Predator, and even the Prometheus film franchises.
I’m pretty sure they’re going with a dust bowl, based off the last trailer. It sure looks like stuff that my Grandmother described seeing (she was north of the dust bowl, but still saw the dust storms sweep by to the south).
And the third trailer was released three days ago . . . WOW!
Can’t wait to see this in IMAX.
Love it! Can’t wait for this one.
Dam that looks good
I’m actually interested in seeing the movie now
So this comes out in a couple days and I may actually drive two hours to go see it in IMAX, I’m that stoked about it.
Any chance we could edit this thread title to reflect the present as were more or less past the the trailer stage?
The motion is seconded.
We’ll be seeing this in IMAX over the weekend, can’t wait!
I absolutely hate movie theaters and haven’t been in one in nearly 20 years as I have my own home theater set up, but I may have to venture down to the Bob Bullock IMAX this weekend for this one.
IMAX is the only way I will be watching this one, anyone know if this film is offered in 3D?
Reason I ask is because also I did not find Prometheus an awesome movie post theater viewing, I did however find it absolutely awesome in IMAX 3D. Space and 3D just makes a great pairing.
Not sure, but we saw Avatar in IMAX 3D and it was A M A Z I N G though the story sucked lol! I’ve only seen it offered in IMAX and regular 2D film(?).
I’m fairly certain I saw it being offered in IMAX 3D at the theater I was looking at. I’ll double check.
Also kudos to whomever edited the thread title. Clever.
