I am currently building another AR15 out of some extra parts that I have had laying around. I am planning on using a standard handguard assembly with this rifle since it’s just a basic build. As I sit here an look at what I need I noticed I was missing a front sight and was planning on using a standard A2 F-Marked Front Sight base. However, upon finding one from Palmetto State Armory, I noticed it said that it had to be drilled for taper pins or set screws.
Why is this? I’m not a gunsmith or have the proper tools to drill a front sight base for my AR15. So, are there any other alternatives to mounting and or finding a A2 F-Marked FSB to mount without the gunsmith option? Could I use a FSB from another rifle that already has the holes for taper pins / set screws?
You are not going to install an A2 even if drilled already. Let someone like ADCO do it. A couple of people sell clamp on A2 style sights but they are proud of them! You will not find to many here that approve of clamp on anything.
