I didnt think about it until everything had arrived at my door, but my lower is cnc’d from billet aluminum and doesn’t have a removable trigger guard.
last night I opened up my redi-mod box and took a look at the install guide and realized you needed to remove the trigger guard to install.
I’m guessing I’m going to need to bend this thing pretty good to get around this problem, and dont want to put too much added stress to that metal by bending it way out and way back. I’d also have to cut the rubber gasket and try and just tighten it back under the metal once I’ve bent it all back into place, hoping it doesn’t shift around.
has anyone had to deal with this? Am I going to reef this thing way out of shape to try and get it around the magwell but through the trigger guard?
I’m worried this might not work and I’ll be left with a bent piece of metal I cant sell.
While I don’t have any advice on installing it, you could call Magpul and see what they recommend. If it can’t be done, maybe they’ll give u a refund. It’s worth a shot.
It’s probably more effort than it’s worth. Where the mag well and trigger guard meet is squared on your lower while it’s stepped on a forged lower. Beside fitting it through the trigger guard your going to have to reshape it. Then hope that the circumference of the mag well isn’t too large.
If I were going to try it I would get a regular Redimag and instead of cutting out the center of the mount on the ejection port side I would relieve the top and bottom of it.
yeah I’m starting to come to that conclusion, I hadnt even thought of it when I ordered it, even found the disclaimer on the bfg site about billeted lowers. oh well, thanks.
As mentioned, the Redi-Mod won’t fit billet lowers.
But, you CAN mount it on a lower without taking the trigger guard off. You can just stick the open end of the Redi-Mod through the trigger area and turn it. The Redi-Mod uses the QA version of the Redi-Mag and the rubber gasket is one piece. The non-QA version uses a rubber gasket that is three separate pieces.
