Installing a ML3 in Larue 150 mount

Is it normal to have a slight gap in the top part of the ring mount when installing the Aimpoint? I followed the instructions that came with the Larue mount and tightened the lower screws first, but I cannot get the top of the mount to completely close. I have used the wrench that came with the mount and cannot get the screws to tighten any further. Is it possible to damage the tube from overtightening the mount ? I have only used the the supplied wrench.

In regards to the elevation knob being at 12 o’clock and the windage at three o’clock - are you doing it by sight, or is their a way to ensure that the elevation is "deade center at 12 o’clock?

Thank you for your help.

A small space is “normal”. Start at the bottom (dont go overboard in turning down the screws) as per instructions and then move up to the top. As far as alignment of the optic within the mount; your calibrated eyeballs are all the tools required.

You don’t want the gap to close flush — this means that you are out of adjusment/tension options.

Tighten the bottom first and then torque the top. Should be a business card thickness ± left when the hardware is snug.

Thanks for the responses. I had searched the forums and only found a post where someone used a long handled driver to get the mount closed. I did not want to go that route if a small gap was acceptable.
