Today during my quarterly qualification my pistol light repeatedly flew off the rail of my HK P2000. I have shot this pistol/light many times before without incident. My rail is undamaged. The light appears undamaged.
I sent off an email to Insight seeking guidance. Does anyone have experience with this issue?
At least I have a Streamlight TLR-1 I can remove from my personal carbine until this situation is rectified.
Is it possible the wrong attachment bar was on the light? I know my m6 came with two different ones: 1 for picatinny rails and another for Glock rails. Is it possible you had the wrong one on?
Glad to hear that Insight got back to you quickly and is willing to rectify the situation.
I honestly do not think that is the case, as I had shot probably 1000 rounds through it without any issues. That was a mixture of qualifications and hard use training.
Honestly, I prefer the Insight Technology product line to the Surefire products in most cases. I have never had a problem using anything made for the 1913 rail.
However, as I understand it, the HK rail is a different animal.
I definitely prefer the Insight switch over the Surefire. I felt the X300 had a better beam, but sharp serrations on the switch was a deal breaker.
According to the HK USA website, “Industry standard mounting rails allow the widest variety of lights, laser aimers, and accessories to be added to the P2000 by sliding them onto the open rail system.” Why can’t they just say picatinny rail or 1913? Unless it just isn’t the case. Who knows?
The parts arrived today without instructions or diagram, so I will replicated what is there now…unless that is the problem.
I will post an update after I can get it to the range. My Streamlight TLR-1 goes on duty until it is confirmed fixed.
I have replaced the parts. I have not had the opportunity to get it to the range. I am waiting on some target stands to arrive before my next range outing.
I will update the thread when I finish test firing the pistol.
