What kind of eye box do the 1.5x Trijicon’s have? How about perceived field of view…i.e. good, “meh”, or McDonald’s straw?
I’ve already seen where the TA45 has reasonable eye-relief. I am wondering how these smaller Acogs are working for people who opt for them over Aimpoints or Eotechs.
not quite the same, but i have the accupoint tr24 and an aimpoint pro.
i mainly shoot the tr24 @ 1x - the reticle & illumination just plain work better for me.
the illumination adjustment is “naturally” automatic.
there’s a few other preferences, but they’re specific to the accupoint.
i love the aimpoint, too, don’t get me wrong. but that big green triangle in the accupoint is always quick, visible and just the right brightness for me.
Eyebox is … well, sort of like every other scope I’ve tried. You have to be pretty close. I know that’s vague, sorry. However, clarity is crazy good, magnification is nice on any distances, and with enough light the reticle really pops. No blurring like with Aimpoints, if you have astigmatism.
I have a ta-44. Eye relief is very forgiving. I have a full field of view from every stock position.
I have several rifles and don’t shoot this one as much as some of the others. The magnification slows me down a tad in comparison to my aimpoints, it is only noticeable to me… And maybe a shot timer if I were running drills back to back with a red dot equipped rifle. I am sure that if I used this rifle exclusively for a little while, the difference would lesson if not disappear.
Overall, great scope. You will not be dissapointed.
I’ve been using a TA44 for about 3 months because of astigmatism with the Aimpoint sights.
The TA44 isn’t as fast close up or as unforgiving of eye misalignment as the Aimpoint. But, I can see a sharp reticle at longer range and get those hits faster. The slight mag allows me to keep both eyes open for searching yet gives just a little ‘pop’ for seeing and IDing targets in bad light or shadow.
For pure close up work, like inside a house, I’ll take a Aimpoint any day. For a general purpose do anything type rifle, the TA44 is near ideal.
