Let me apologize in advance if this has been clarified and I just missed it. I did a search and looked through some Google images, but could not seem to find a “for sure” answer.
I’m interested in the Inforce WML / Thorntail combination for my middy. It does have a standard FSB. It also is sporting the MOE middy handguards. Are there any known compatibility issues with this mount/light/handguard combination? I think the top would be fine, but since the side slots are at different angles from a quad type rail I was not sure if that eliminates those as options to place the Thorntail/WML combination in that position.
Please let me know if you need more information. Thank you in advance.
I do see mounts specifically for the MOE, but they aren’t for the Inforce WML. I’m interested in the Thorntail specifically to get the light out as far as possible.
I used the Magpul Cantilever mount on my mid-length moe. I had to buy the Magpul Illumination Kit though because I could not find the cantilever mount for sale by itself. I have not ran the setup yet but does feel good in my hands. Hope this helps.
Curious, did you try just a piece of short rail from the kit to get the Inforce light closer to the handguard? The reason I ask is I mounted a M3L on my wife’s 870 with the Magpul handguard with the same cantilever mount and was thinking of moving it closer to the handguard.
I ordered mine with a Thorntail mount. I’m going to see how it works out on the MOE hand guard. I’ll let you all know how it works out (pics included if it DOES work).
If it doesn’t work on the MOE hand guard, I’m going to throw it on my other carbine that has a DD Omega. I’ll take pics of that as well.
Just a heads up, the Inforce/Thorntail does NOT work with a MOE hand guard and a standard FSB on my middy. No matter I where I try mounting it it physically will not work.
So, it went on my other carbine. I have to say, I really like the light activation switch on the Inforce and the angle of the mount is perfect. And it was a definite upgrade in lumens (Surefire G2 80 lumens vs. Inforce WML 200 lumens).
My only gripe is that since the carbine hand guard/rail system is shorter it feels more cramped compared to my middy.
