Get a specific brace for the garage door during a hurricane. Should provide some resistance to break-ins, but only when somebody is home. Must be removed ervery time to use the door. Not ideal.
Do both #2 and #3.
Get actual secure garage door.(the roll up type) Does anybody make one that looks like traditional garage door, not one the screams security when you look at it.
I am refering to the just the garage door, not the man doors or the door going into the house from the garge. Do you guy’s here have any suggestions on how to make it more secure from break-in.
I have a small garage door on the side of the house, they call them Harley Garages. It’s a manual door with a sliding lock. I’m going to put one on each side of the main garage door to pin the door when we are gone. It’s still thin metal on the doors though, I’d be interested if there is something like you were mentioning about stronger garage doors. The more I think about it, the more I’m liking the stand alone garage idea with a covered walkway to the house.
Are you just worried about home invasion scenarios? For vacations I recommend unplugging the garage door operator and taking a channel lock and snapping it onto the rail right above a roller.
If it’s just for day to day use there isn’t much more you can do than what ITS showed in their video.
In a bug in SHTF scenario if they are at your garage door you are a little late to be worried about the stuff in the garage.
I have my garage door wired to my security system. The alarm will go off if the garage door is raised. It also keeps you from forgetting the garage door is up. You can’t arm the system unless it is closed.
why not just have the guy who put in the push button thing also put in a switich to turn the door off. with a steel frame holding it godzilla couldnt open it. we have had this in all garages on all our properties for 10-12 yrs. instan alarm on the side door courtesy of a.d.t. also works
