The search turned up nothing. Is anybody familiar with them and what their quality is? http://infidelbodyarmor.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=68umkijrhb0mspdbd8up3dvto3
It is my limited knowledge that steel plates are likely to send spall into your neck and face. I don’t know how effective a 1/4inch of coating will prevent this.
I don’t know about their armor but they’re selling PMAG’s at the low low price of $45
F em.
Have you heard of The Target Man Rhino lined AR500 steel armor? I dont own any, but the video comparing not coated vs. coated is interesting.

I got a set and they seem legit.
Cool. I’ve been thinking of ordering a set for an extra carrier.
It took a while to get them. Alot of the industry is moving product ever since the panick began. I say they are worth the wait. They are also not to pricey and I got a discount from Targetman himself which was a great deal.
If you want I can post pics of plates and carrier.
I don’t want to derail Abraxas’ post, but would like to see pics.
So not much experience with them i guess then.
I found a review of the Infidel Armor done by a family. They shot one of the plates up to see how it would do. The coating def helps the spall.
To me, it looks very similar to the AR500Armor brand. The differences being
-the AR500Armor uses the Line-x Paxcon anti-spall coating, while the Infidel brand uses an unspecified ‘proprietary’ coating.
-The Infidel costs more than twice as much.

Why would anyone want steel plates at that price?
You can find ceramics for about the same that are lighter weight and meet published NIJ testing standards.
Having a big box full of “rifle” rated steel that is now relegated to pistol and rimfire only makes me really sketchy with any claims of AR500 rated steels. Ceramic meeting industry standards strikes me as better than what could be some dude cutting plates after hours at work.
Looking at their site it’s $295 for a set of plates. If what you say is true, I would like the link to NIJ rated ceramic plates for the same price. I have been looking for affordable ceramic plates.
I would assume an anti-spall coating on steel (AR500 or Infidel) might do a decent job catching spall on a dead-on perpendicular shot, but I wonder how well it does with a glancing shot or an off-angle impact?
The LE body armor manufacturers have the low cost SA IV plates covered pretty well, they frequently have to cater to agencies on budgets.
$170 each http://www.officerstore.com/store/product.aspx/productId/20186/Point-Blank-Level-IV-Single-Curve-Stand-Alone-Plates/
or
$204 each http://www.galls.com/CGBCSTYL?PMSTYL=TE770
Armor Shield does a pretty inexpensive 10x12" SA IV ceramic plate too, I just can’t find them online from a retailer.
Thanks, I will look into those options.
