This topic is to memorialize community member Iraq Gunz.
A toast to Will. Raise not your glass, lift your “energy pill”.
IG was a great guy, sorely missed.
Gunz drove us nuts. I have so many stories. I’ll post a few here as they come to me. I had a Gunz flashback a week or two ago when someone showed up to shoot with us and his AR sights un-zeroed and un-cowitnessed.
Will always showed up to shoot with un-zeroed RDS which drove me crazy. I mean… you’re gun is on your front seat ready to go and the sights don’t even reconcile? He’s the “gun guy” who never had his guns completely buttoned up. Hilarious.
His presence was a great asset to this forum. Never met him, but had online interactions with him.
Appreciated his knowledge base, and admired his no-bullshit approach to things.
The first time Pappabear met Iraqgunz was when Will came by my house for some reason. Will tells me he needs to go check out some gun stuff at this “Pappabear’s” house not too far from me.
Ok. Let’s go. Anyhow, they’d agreed to have Will work on some ARs for PB, but after sprawling out all the guns and accessories, Will advised that he hadn’t brought any of his tools, and he’d have to return another time to do the work. We’re both sitting there in “WTF?” mode. ![]()
45 minute drive accross town, and brought no tools to get anything done.
I read some of Will’s posts on SOCNET, he didn’t hide his opinion of some brands of AR. In fact it’s probably safe to say he didn’t hide his opinion, or knowledge, of anything AR related.
When I decided I needed an AR I took his advice and joined here to learn.
He often spoke of SOCNET. I have’t heard that name in a while.
I miss him. Good guy, was always generous with his time and knowledge. Trading emails he helped me learn a lot about the AR and that was before taking his one of his classes. I ended up taking it twice, the last time 3 weeks before he died. R.I.P. Will.
