Not many people have the resources to even do something like this, except maybe Trident.
Pretty cool nonetheless.

Very cool. I wonder why his first bullet ended up tumbling.
I was wondering the same?? Maybe a local ballistics expert can chime in?
The bullet was Sub-Sonic at that Point and had lost Stability.
According to the video his bullet enters transonic flight @ 2400yds…and his target is @ 2530yds.
It’s quite common for a bullet to become unstable and “tumble” once it enters the transonic flight region. Some bullets resist it better than others. The projectile’s base plays heavily into this equation.
For example 175gr. SMKs almost never tumble due to entering transonic flight, however 168gr. SMKs tumble constantly when entering transonic flight.
That guy is a poster over at The High Road forum. He has multiple other videos as well.
Good stuff. It just goes to show how far someone can get a hit with their rifle.
I would love to own enough ground to be able to shoot that far.
why stop @ 2500?
BCMJunkie is posting again. Sweet. Haven’t heard from him in a while.
21 shots later!
Impressive a Savage could get this done, even if it is a $2200 rifle.
Once does not simply just make a 2500 yard dick shot on the first shot.
Exactly what I was thinking. You don’t just walk out and take a shot at that distance.
I don’t know how alt of people do their " Warm up" shots, I personally like to take at least two when possible.
Unless its a friendly competition “first one wins”.
Unknown distances, shooting offhand or just random targets, I like to walk it in.
600 yards and up is good, with my setups anyway
Our 168s fan out bad at 1050. Not sure if they’re tumbling or just vectoring off… but it’s a good 12 foot radius where the bullet might impact.
Makes you want to run out and buy one. I need to find one priced for LEO and .Mil.
I remember posting in the long range forum about a friend who has this rifle. He put a $100 Bushnell on it and wasted hundreds of dollars in ammo not hitting anything because the recoil obliterated the scopes internals.
I almost bought it, but I can’t afford the ammo. Once he got a decent scope that thing massacres targets at 1,000 yards. Its almost too easy. 2,530 yards is an entirely different ballgame though.
When it comes to long range I tend to buy cheap rifles and put stupid expensive optics on them personally. My last bolt gun I had a $2200 NF on a $600 SPS Tactical. ![]()
tell me about it! I know a guy who has one, and another who has an m95
That’s actually the right way to go!
