I’m well-versed in AR’s and other weapons, but I’ve never had a pistol caliber blowback AR until now. Obviously you clean the barrel and the face of the carrier/bolt assembly, but are there any other areas that get trashed with blowback? Is there more crud blown into the upper receiver than a regular AR?
i’m also fairly new to the 9mm ar as i got approx 5K through mine, but i have cleaned it several times.
after some 12-1500 rnds of varoius 9mm, the upper receiver got a thick layer of crud.
the lower also got dirty, the safety became sluggish to operate and the disconnector refused to disconnect.
i hit it with brake cleaner and compressed air, cleans out the old gunk easy.
Ah, the receiver is the crud depository.
Sounds like it’s similar to shooting a DI gun suppressed.
I forgot to mention that most of the rounds was fired with a suppressor.
But crud build up is very simmilar to a suppressed DI gun
Gotcha. Much appreciated.
powder residue in the lower, otherwise just normal BCG wipedown…
