You think the Republicans won’t win an election again? Wait until this passes.
20+ million new freeloaders on the dole who are going to vote democrat by 80%/20%.
People that come from third world shitholes, have no concept of American liberty, and do not come from a capitalist based republic. They come from socialist shitholes ran by strongmen.
Peasant mentality.
You and me will be paying for them with higher taxes.
42% of immigrants (legal) are already on some form of welfare.
Texas turns into a blue state in 10 years. Florida is already there.
Why do you think bam bam wants this so bad? It guarantees them winning elections forever. Then then can have any law they want. New gun control, sky high income taxes, and socialized medicine.
These people come here because of the liberty and the capitalist economy we have. For the same reasons any other immigrant has came here for the past 100 years: Opportunity. Freedom. Safety.
Rubio is putting himself in the middle of this “reform.” Supposedly he is trying to pull the Stupid8 to the right. It will be interesting to see what he proposes, or if he caves in and goes along to get along.
Will he support pure amnesty for the 10-30 million already here?
Will he propose anything to discourage and prevent illegal immigration in the future (anchor babies, etc.), or continue to allow anyone that comes illegally to seek citizenship under the “reform” rules.
Will he propose any measure to balance a huge increase in new immigration numbers with other countries or just Hispanics?
Will he explain why we continue to have a border patrol, customs and checkpoints if we grant amnesty to anyone who sneaks around them?
Can you cite any actual data on this are you making this claim on your own “knowledge” and opinion of the topic?
Have you taken polling data from all immigrants (illegal and legal) to find their motivations to come here? Why are you so certain it is just for the welfare that is provided? That it can’t also be for the freedom and opportunity that the US provides compared to their shithole countries?
I kind of have to agree with Scott on this, I had the exact same thoughts when I heard the announcement. He did make it “sound” good when presenting it today though…the whole they have to get in line behind everyone else…
I guess I would be pissed if forced to pay for another 20 to 30 million folks in Obama care or on welfare but I say lets make them documented immigrants with S/S cards and ID so they can pay into the system.
Further any employer found paying newly documented foreign workings under the table receives a $25.000 fine on a first offense.
Perhaps the most convincing data is the Hispanic support of Prop 30 in CA. This was a redistribution of wealth tax that stuck it to earners in order to fund various social programs.
Boy, talk about being a racist piece of shit. Way to paint us all in a broad brush. No less than 12 members of my family are immigrants (including my siblings’ spouses). All but one of us are professionals and have been working ever since we immigrated to the United States. The other one is my brother who retired last year and is considering finding a part time job.
Maybe the legal immigrants you associate with are welfare recipients. But the ones I personally know, about half are Physicians and Nurses. The rest have one or more jobs.
Oh, and fuck you and your “I was born here” elitist attitude. All you had to do to become an American is to be born. I had to go through all the paperwork, serve 3-years in the military, and study for an exam. I have more than 28-years of military service and 9-years of Volunteer Law Enforcement service. BTW, I am an Independent Conservative and vote as such. And I did vote against Obama in the last two elections.
Carlos, the stats that Scottryan threw out there were not quite accurate and his generalizations about immigrants too broad. If we are talking about Hispanic immigrants which are largely comprised of Mexicans, then they vote for the liberal progressive ticket about 70% of the time. This is not yet the 80/20 that SR quotes, but it is still a death blow to conservative attempts at winning a national election.
Scottryan is completely correct is in his broader point that the Democratic interest in immigration reform rests mainly on securing a key voting block. That is to say, do you think that Sen. Chuck Schumer would be touting immigration reform if Hispanics voted even 60% conservative? Far from it - you’d probably see Feinstien manning the boarder with an AR15 if that was the case.
I suspect that much of the frustration that you see coming many of us stems from a fear that we stand little chance of winning over the Hispanic vote with conservative ideals. While Hispanics are often hard workers, they also do absorb a disproportionate share of entitlement dollars (particularly in healthcare) that is not recovered from their payroll taxes. They made in clear in last November’s election that entitlement benefits were more important than job-creating policies. After all, Romney spent a year talking about getting EVERYONE back to work. The Hispanics shunned that message in favor of “hope-and-handout.”
Talking illegals !
I dont think there is any argument/problem with ones that came here legally ! Like my wife ! So I hope they refund the $thousands we spent to go through the proper legal steps !
But no its cut in line steal identities to work here illegal and we will reward you ! as someone who has a lot into this pisses me off they will allow this to happen !
illegals know hey we can break the law to get here then steal citizens identities and not pay taxes and they reward us
And we need to end the granting of citizenship based solely on having been born in the US. If the parents are here illegally and give birth, the child should not be granted citizenship.
We have “birth tourism” outfits operating all over the US, where pregnant foreigners pay to come give birth in the US so their children can have US citizenship.
We need strictly enforced immigration laws. We need frank militarization of our borders. You try to cross illegally, we shoot.
We do have an obvious need for the labor provided by the illegals currently here. We need immigration reform to make a legal path to allow their entry. And make them pay taxes just like the rest of us.
